• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

How many miles are people getting out of the stock rear tire? I just hit 5000 miles today, and it will not be long before I need a new tire. The edges of the tire look good but, the center of the tire looks bald. I am running the recommended air pressure and check it regularly.:helpsmilie:

I squeaked 8k out of mine which is about average from what I am seeing on here. You might want to look at getting an automotive tire the exact same size. There is a thread on here somewhere discussing all that, but I am too lazy to go look it up.:opps:
 
I got 12k out of my first rear tire ... i'm at 20,000 now ... I'll be going to a TOYO T1R (car tire ) :2thumbs: pretty soon and they have a tire that will fit the front wheel (odd size) as well ;)
 
Center wear on the stock tire seems to be common. The higher speeds you run, the more likely it will wear faster there. Aggressive riding doesn't help, either. Some people have lowered the pressure slightly to around 26-28 psi and have improved the situation. The car tires like the Toyo do seem to wear better and more evenly, from the reports here. BTW, 5K is the low end for rear tire mileage, with about 10,000 being average, from what most say. Some folks have gone even farther.
 
On my first Spyder I changed the rear tire at 12,000 miles because I was leaving on a long trip and did not want to have to find one out-of-state somewhere. The tire could have gone further. I replaced the tire with another Kendra tire, which lasted 22,000 miles (over-due when replaced). At 34,000 miles I install a B.F. Goodrich gForce Sport. At 36,500 miles the Spyder burned to the ground.

On my second Spyder I replaced the rear tire at 18,500 miles with a B.F. Goodrich gForce Sport 225/50R15. I have about 16,000 miles on the gForce and it is looking really good. The wear pattern is perfectly even and it is obvious the tire will greatly outlast the OEM tire. I could not be more pleased. The gForce currently sells on TireRack.com for $92.00 plus freight.

I am also running auto tires on the front of the Spyder.
 
HA! 3,700 and 4,500 on two of mine. You are an optimist, Scotty! :D And I only drove it 30 mph to church on Sundays, too.

Man, you neglected to mention that you left for the church 20 miles away 15 minutes before mass. :roflblack: Being old fuddy-duddies, we have five grand on the Spyder and are at about half the tread wear, which is within 1/32 of the outside tread depth, at the center of the tire. Wait till you see how fast you wear out that T-bird tire, Hotrod! :yikes:
 
We got about 15,000 and could have run it more had we not been on a trip far from home and not been able to get back without a new tire.
Still riding my original front tires with 30,000+ miles.

Pretty good tire mileage...

I got 14K on the fronts and 17K on the rear. I ryde pretty hard, with lots of freeway miles, but I don't do a lot of burnouts
 
Have 12,600 on the fronts and rear and expect to get between 14 & 15000 on them. Almost all of our riding is 2 up. Will try one of the car tires next.
 
I got 14,000 miles out of the BF Goodrich G Force. When I replaced it I went to the Kumho Ecsta, did not like this tire at all. Had my guy take it off and put on another G Force, for the way I ride it's better.:2thumbs:

Rear tyre replacement in Oz

I got a Toyo Proxes 4 fitted earlier this week. What a lot of hassle and running around!

The Kumho that many of you have chosen is not imported to Oz, neither is the Toyo T1R. The only Falken available in 225/50 profile had an asymmetrical tread. The BFG g-force was not available in that size...Then I couldn't get it balanced without pulling the bearing. If I pull the bearing, I have to replace it.:gaah:I got it statically balanced, and a brief run at speed showed no vibration.

Now I'll have the fun of experimenting with pressures. Has the mental midget who did the valve placement had his crayon license withdrawn? It points STRAIGHT at the rear sprocket!

The evil genius who then provided a gauge that pushed straight on to the valve should be locked up before he gets his hands on something important.;)

I've started at 220kPa (32psi) which feels a little squirmy. I'll go up to 240kPa on the weekend to see if it helps.

I discovered when putting the rear wheel back why the manual says to take the rear calliper off before pulling the axle. They may not know how to position a valve stem, but they do know about sequence.:opps:

The good news is that I probably won't have to do this again for about 20000km. The bad news is that that will be in less than 6 months at my present mileage rate. Oh well, somebody has to have all the fun.:ohyea:

I changed mine at just over 15K but it probably would had made it to almost 20K but I didn't want to have to change it while we were out of town on our cross-country trip. Our front tires have 23K miles and counting. It'll be over 30K before I change them probably.
 
Changed the first one @ 12,000 and the 2nd (also stock tire) at an additional 7,000. Both were past the wear indicators at change out. 3rd tire is a Toyo.

The fronts are over 20,000 now and ready to be changed.
 
Around 7,500 on my first rear-- and it was darn near bald. Second one is lasting longer-- but can't see ever getting over 10K out of the OEM rear.

Fronts were replaced at 15K due to a flat - but they were just about shot anyway.

As typical with MC tires -- 2 rear for every 1 front seems about right on the Spyder too. If I can get 7,500 out of a rear and 15,000 on the fronts I'll be more than happy.
