• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mike gain on CB

Does increasing the mike gain on the CB have any effect on the output function of the CB or is it only for the comm between you and the passenger. I have my mike gain all the way down...is this correct? I don't ride with a passenger.

As some know, I am a amateur radio operator (WB5WFW) and the mike gain has to do with the output signal of your transceiver. Too much gain and your signal spatters and is unreadable. The Air Force taught me how to operate a radio, but not how it worked ...hey, call a maintenance guy....

ive been in cb com for a long time and i alwas keep my mike gain all the way up.thats modulation the more the better and none of the cb radios put out too much, the more modulation the futher the tranmission.rf gain all the way up,mike gain all the way up.have fun see you soon in spyder fest.:D:chat:

The mike gain is the third bar to the right, next to volume. With it being intigrated with the passenger comm system, I was not sure what to do with it. On an ordinary CB only (not intigrated) the better ones had a mike gain...the cheaper ones did not. I dont think it has anything to do with the CB, only the intercom....

If you do not have the RT BRP CB, it is a non issue.

In the book, it calls this bar the "intercom volume adjustment (i-comm)" and I was thinking mike gain....don't know how it works on the CB transmission....I will check it out when I ride next time.

I have a 2010 RT-S with the CB and Intercom system. That "mic gain" is only used to control the volume in the driver's headset for the intercom system (separate from music or CB). It's a volume control for me, and only controls volume for my rider's voice as I hear it.

My rider has her own volume control for the intercom and CB (on the wire cord PTT accessory ($59.99) that her headset plugs into and into the mic port by her grab handle on the left side of the bike (part of the communication harness accessory). Her music volume control is on the right side grab handle.

This "mic gain" is a separate control from the VOX sensitivity (the trigger level for the intercom system). It doesn't, as far as I can tell, have any effect on the CB from a gain control.

If you don't have or use the intercom system, I don't think you'd ever mess with that setting.

I hope this was helpful!

moved my post from the CB issues thread as that is about the known Issue with BRP and CB TX button sticking

Item 3 Squelch when solo I set it just high enough to kill the background static, with passenger i turn it up if not using the CB as the CB incoming overrides the itercom
For Item 4 I have that about half way that is the volume of incoming transmission either CB or intercom from what I remember
for Item 5 I thought that was how loud I speak into the mic either CB or intercom is broadcast out
Item 6 is the VOX that is when I am solo I have all the way high so it doesnt trigger and I use the CB button to transmit. when with a passenger I turn that to low so that it is always on and we can chat without having to activate it first. it stays pretty much open comm all the time.

Wow, now I am confused...I guess I will just have to try it out and see what does or does not work. I do know I got static and broken receive when riding with my buddies that are normally fine on my Wing....

I am going to work on this when I get with another CB. No sure it is us, I still believe the BRP CB needs work....we will see...too many having problems.

yeah but the problem everyone is having that brp is aware of is the sticking TX button on 2010 installs. fixed on 2011 CBs

if you are having receptions problems could be the put too much glue on the antenna... when installed. 2010 models had antennas falling off so they had a recall fix which involved a drop of glue or lock tite ..
