• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Might want to check this on your RT...

Our Spyder is a 2010 RT-S... OK... YMMV here... And this is just my thoughts and $.02 on "Our" Spyder. With a suggestion for all to at least look at...

We just picked our RT-S from our dealer after getting a few things to function correctly... It is impossible to explain the feeling I had on the way home and not have it sound over hyped or confusing. But I will try...

What they fixed...

  1. GPS (Works perfect now! Love the cell phone, audio and such in our headsets)
  2. MP3 Player (Was restarted to the first song every time we used the CB or turned off the bike)
  3. Frame/Engine rub (Link)

Now I know this sounds weird. But please, please, please look at your own RT and see if the bolt or nut above is hitting the frame like in the pics. I have no idea if there is only a handful that had/have this issue or not.

But the ryde we have now is out of the world better. We never knew how bad we had it until today. My bottom and back would be telling me I was done ryding at the 300 Mile mark before... Well I put on 102 miles today and when I got off I actually felt refreshed!! To give you an idea.. We had Scattered Thunderstorms today... And we now live 16 miles form our dealer (Was 42) and we took a 102 mile "Long way home" ryde, rain and all. Did not care. they ryde was that awesome!!! Only reason we came home was our puppies being at the four hour mark in their kennels at home

Fuel light came on... Clouds parted... Husband wondered what gas station to get gas at... Made mistake of telling Wife... Wife ordered Captain to aim to home.... Captain looked for passenger ejection button... Darn.. Forgot that mod... :roflblack::roflblack::yikes:

Not only that. But for some reason (Cannot figure out why) our Spyder is easier to steer and does not want to drive to the left all the time. Makes no since at all as the flat surface ryding has always proved to drive straight, but now in all conditions of the road our Spyder has better manners... :dontknow: Not to mention the ryde is soooo comfy and smooooooth...

Now I was not there, but I trust my Dealer and Tech (Seriously). And they told me that part of the frame had to be trimmed back a lot more than the one in that link above. And that BRP was aware of this issue.

Basically every mile we put on the RT we felt from some point. And the ryde we feel now is just like when the bike was new... Butter smooooooooooooth... Did I mention smooth yet? :roflblack::shemademe_smilie:

Now I know that any engine is going to vibrate,, and I am used to it. But the point here is simple. The mounts are settling in on these Spyders, and it is clear a few of these Spyders have this issue. It might be the factory not trimming the frame enough in this area per spec, or the mounts have settled into there actual area vs. estimated/designed...

To look for yourself (If you feel inclined to do so) Take the left main panel off, the panel under the Mirror (And the Mirror).. Then take a piece of paper and slide it under the nut to see if you have clearance. I had zero.

I do not believe that I have ever experienced a more refreshing ryde in my entire life. My wife and I had been proud Spyder owners before today. Now it is more like a mad scientist love affair... We may have to learn new self control tactics as all we talk about is where to ryde, as we are ryding!!... After all, we need to make a living too! :2thumbs::doorag:

Enough of this.. I need to get some sleep and I feel like a child and tomorrow is Xmas...:firstplace::yes:

Just had the same mod done by my dealer because the vibration had gotten even worse. It fixed the problem and the improvement is outstanding, but unfortunately, the tech must not have fastened the left side panel properly and it disappeared on the way home !

:agree:This vibration/rub was the only serious problem I have ever had with my RT and I agree that was the best feeling possible when I left the dealer and didn't get my feet buzzed. My dealer rode my RT before they returned it to me and he told me he didn't know a Spyder could run so smooth. Made believers out of them to continue to look for and fix this condition.

Glad you are happy like I am....

lateral strut...

The ideal fix for this problem is to cut a small crescent shaped piece of metal the same thickness as the mount, and insert it below the bolt before re-installing the strut and nut. This will prevent the bolt from ever sliding back down in the slot. The slot is only there, apparently, to allow the bolt to be inserted from the rear.
You will still need to add a relief cut to the bracket so that the nut will clear.

Any 2011's have this problem

Being new to the Spyder I am not sure what is normal vibration and what is not. Just wondering if BRP has fixed this on the 2011?

All signals actually point to them fixing this at some point during the 2010 production. Personally I have not yet read or heard of a 2011 with this potential issue...

Bolt rubbing on 2011

I just finished a checking my 2011 RT Limited and the bolt (nut) is not rubbing. I guess they fixed the problem. There wasn't a lot of room between the nut and the frame. About 1/16th or less. I will keep an eye on it.:ohyea:

Flying RT Side Panels !

Just had the same mod done by my dealer because the vibration had gotten even worse. It fixed the problem and the improvement is outstanding, but unfortunately, the tech must not have fastened the left side panel properly and it disappeared on the way home !

:gaah::gaah::gaah:

My dealer sent me a new panel to replace the one that flew.
So here is my solution to never losing another RT side panel (I had velcro on the one that flew and it didnt save it).
