• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Microsoft or Mac?

My MacBook Pro is over 4 years old and still running like a workhorse. That is the longest I have had a laptop, and I work in IT.
I have seen older Mac's still working like if they came out of the box and the owners pounding away.

Mac....don't even give it a second thought. And if you really need windblows, you can run it on a mac.

MacOS gives you the option to dual boot or, as I did, I installed a virtual machine running Windows 7 (hardly ever use).

Yup, i run it on a virtual machine because one of my customers websites for billing is only compliant using windblows.:opps:

I have 7 active Mac's in the house and others old one that still work but are too old(slow)to use, even my first '84 Mac still runs! You pay a little more, but you get a solid machine that you can count on!

Exactly!! I've lost count on how many over the years since '84, but wish i kept the original one.

I've been using PCs since 1984, and I recently changed from MS to Mac Book Air. I had been using iPhone and iPad and the transition hasn't been too hard. But I'm still learning how to best use some of the stuff.

I work in IT they both have goods and bad. It will really depend on what you are going to be using your computer for. If you do a lot of graphics MACs are great. If you need to use if for business then wintel for compatibility with other users and companies. I have both and neither are the best at everything. So think about what you are going to be doing on the computer and who you might be doing it with. If MAC works for you most of the time, then go with it. Both MAC and Windows have emulators (virtual) software that can be installed to run other operating systems. I love new toys so have fun testing them both before you buy.

i'm an applications developer for a living. Read that as I work on windows all day long. I have 3 mac's at home. I even have a apple router or my WIFI. that absolutely was the best decision I ever made. in the 9 years I have had it i have never had to reboot it because the router lost connection ot was slow. I love my macs and all of my children have macs and iwon't own anything else away from work.

Just got(2 weeks ago) a Lenovo all in one with 8.1 windows for me, and a MacBook AIR for Nan. She was up and running before we left the Apple store. OH!!! the problems I have had. still not going smoothly.

I've been using both for 20 years. There is a bit of a learning curve in migrating from one to the other.
Mac is a big investment but worth it in the long run. IMO....Mac for the least frustration and PC for the most frustration.
You can read all the advantages and disadvantages, good reviews and bad reviews but in the end there is nothing like the ease, seamless integration about a mac. Giving it an honest chance yourself will convert you.

Mac for the WIN!

I'm a big Mac person, but that isn't what this is about. I'd go to a Mac Store on a slow day and spend some real time with a sales person to see what it can do and how that fits for you. I'm somewhat certain that you'll prefer the Apple, but in the end this is about what works for you and feels right to you.

The main thing to keep in mind is that the Mac will be harder in the beginning just because you are used to a different system. Most people find it more intuitive objectively, but a PC history can change that perception.

My household boasts 2 Macbook Pros - 13" and 17". 2 MacBook Airs - both 13". 3 IPads - 2, 3 and 4 gens. 4 iPhones.

'nuff said...

MAC. MAC. MAC. MAC. MAC. MAC. MAC is the best you will not be happy with anything else
No bugs, no troubles with viruses, no down time and best of all NO PC.
If you go to the Apple website and click on refurbished units you can find lots there that they sell
for about 1/2 price and have a NEW Warranty. I have bought this year 2 27 inch Imac's to replace
my older units I willlllll never own a PC again, as for other Apple stuff my wife and I have ... Apple TV,
iPads, iPods, each have the new iPhone6 to replace the iPhone 4s Did I say Apple is the way of the future
who needs windows to look out of ?
Dave

Thinking of replacing my aged computer. A friend suggests going with Mac. Opinions welcome.
