• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mic-Mutes for the Spyder RT

Yesterday, I sent an email to Mic-Mutes -
http://mic-mutes.com/ - inquiring if they planned to add the Spyder RT to their list of supported motorcycles. When I had my Gold Wing, Mic-Mutes was the best add on accessory I ever did. My wife and I really miss it for the Spyder. I got an email back from Bill Morphy, the creator of Mic-Mutes. He asked if he could call me to talk about the Spyder. I sent him my phone number and he called that evening. Bill said he tried looking into what the Spyder would require to make the Mic-Mutes work. He talked with a local Can Am dealer who appeared to be willing to work with Bill but then backed out. As Bill doesn't own a Spyder or have access to one locally, he can't proceed. He asked me to pass the word that if anyone around the Pittsburgh PA area was interested in showing Bill their Spyder, he would greatly appreciate it. He also stated he would drive up to two hundred miles to meet with someone. For me, living in northwestern Minnesota, Pittsburgh is a little too far away for meeting with Bill. I hope there is someone close to Bill that could help him out. Mic-Mutes would definitely make rider - passenger communications more enjoyable when we are out enjoying a ride on the Spyder!!

Bill Morphy can be contacted via email at [email protected]

No access to the PTT switch

On the Spyder the PTT switch is a 'soft' switch. That is to say that the switch causes a CANbus message to be sent to the CB to tell it to start transmitting. Looking at the Mic-Mutes site, it seems like they need access to the physical switch contacts in order to work (I only looked briefly) which is not available. Doubtful that this will work - sorry.
