• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Memorable Town Names - Places to visit

Firefly mentioned ny fav, Dildo Newfoundland.
Here are a few others I've been through in NL, Come By Chance, Blow Me Down, Conception Bay, Joe Batt's Arm. NL has many odd place names.

What I've never figured out is why the city is pronounced New Orlie ens, or New Or lens, but the parish is Or leeens! They're both spelled Orleans!

North, South Carolina. That's confusing.

Well i sort of get North, South Carolina, North, South Dakota, Virginia and West Virginia all geographically related. However what I don't get is Kansas and ArKansas. What direction is Ar? ArKansas is Southeast of Kansas so shouldn't it be called Sekansas? Betcha Cruzr Joe has an answer for that:rolleyes:

Yellow River Valley, CO

There used to be some wonderful places along the "Yellow River" in Colorado. Silverton, Durango soon to be NM, NV, UT , AZ and CA.

=bob=

We have a few unusual names in NZ, Mainly based around our Maori Culture. If the letters "wh" are together it is pronounced as an "F"
So we have places like Whakatane (fa ka ta nee) Whakamaru (fa ka maa roo) and this one even Kiwis struggle with Whangamomana (fung a mom a na) I worked and lived in a place in Perth West Australia called Dog Swamp

OK, how about Sallisaw, Henryetta, Wagoner, Bowlegs. All town names in Oklahoma
