• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Members Roadside Assistance

New member
I have been a member of a Harley talk forums roadside assistance list for several years. I've been called 3 times off this list, each time it was a pleasure, to be a help to a forum member. So with that I'm wondering if it isn't time that the members here start a " :spyder2:roadside assistance" list. Something that could be printed by a forum member to travel with. Lamont if your intrested, I could lend some help to set it up.

State| forum handle| name| town| tools, shop ect| distance from dealer|.

Just might make a few friendships along the way

BAM - breakdown & legal assistance for motorcycle riders. Same concept.

1-800-4-bikers. Need to join, although it is free to join.

Same concept as BAM:roflblack:, not even close. This is a voluntary list of forum members willing to give a helping hand to fellow spyder riders that might find them selves in a bind with their :spyder2:. At least out here in Montana, If you had a problem, you could call me, if there was a list.

Bam, 1-800-4-bikers, free to join, then what:yes::yes:

Count me in...Las Vegas

:agree: Great idea. I'd be more than happy to help with riders who visit the Vegas valley. And meeting new friends is a bonus.

Lamonster - Could we have a link to a database on this website where we could voluntarily enter our contact information?

You know guys, this is a great idea. The easiest way for the moment would be to start a Google.doc spreadsheet. If I have time over this weekend I will even try to do it. Once the sheet is made, it can be made public and everyone can go into the spreadsheet and edit it i.e. add their own information. Once you do that, you hit save and then repost the link. We can keep the link in this thread for the moment until we find a way to maybe have Lamont sticky this thread or add the link even to the home page. Ah, now there is an idea, If we have it designed well, maybe the link be added there. I will make the sheet and call is "Spyders to the Rescue" I should have it posted by this evening or earlier.

Sounds good...

Great Idea

Sounds like a great idea!:2thumbs: It would make me feel easier about travelling cross country on my :spyder:

Well heck I brought this up when Lamount was stuck in OK and not one single reply!
Now I know I must have Cooties or there are many of you out there that will not reply to newbies.

For those of you you may want to consider being new here does not mean you are new to riding maybe a newbie has something to offer if you will just open your ears.

Sorry about the rant the Blue Knights have always done this and it only make since I dont care who had to brig it up as long as you go for it:thumbup:

Not sure how the idea got overlooked at the time, could have been as simple as the title of the thread. Please don't take it personally. We are usually pretty good welcoming the Newbies. Go the the link and add your info. When I see Lamont this weekend, I'll ask him about the feasibility of having the link available from the home page or not. Once again here is the link to the spreadsheet I made. Spyders to the Rescue I see Gary has already added his info as well.

Didn't know you could create a spreadsheet like that...very cool. I am reluctant to put my phone number on there though. Is there something that could be set up that is more secure?

Great idea...

I have a toolbox, m/c jack, trailer and willing to travel to help a fellow rider. :thumbup:/Ken

To my knowledge they keep a database of riders that will assist you if you are broke down. Haul your bike to the nearest dealer, let you use their garage to store you bike for a few days, etc. I could be wrong, although that is my understanding.:yes:

As above it is noting like Bam. The BK list who has tools, trailer, shop, as well as a room to spare. Thats how we met Some of our best fiends, now because of our membership, our list is kept under a members only spot on our sites

hess

Just got off the phone with BAM call Sherry if you want to find out the particulars of BAM.

It is totally volunteer and free to use them. You tell them wher you are located and they will look up a volunteer close to your location and ask them to assist you. If the person that they called is not available they will try someone else that is close to where you are brokedown. it is totally free!! Call 1-800-4-bikers and see what they have to say.:yes:

When this was orignally suggested I thought it was a fantastic idea, and I still do. I have been called upon by a fellow Spyder rider who needed to borrow my trailer to tow his Spyder to a local dealer and I was more than happy to oblige.

Anyone living in or traveling through the SF Bay Area and need some assistance, please let me know. I have a trailer, towing vehicle, and auto mechanic experience and training as well as a garage full of tools. I would be willing to help when I can. There are also at least three local Spyder dealers less than 1 hour from my house.

I have added my contact information in the spreadsheet that Deb provided.
