• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mechanic scratched my spyder.

Firefly, that area you circled is a nice shiny reflection from the paint thanks to Lemon Pledge wipes. :-) The scratch is on the top portion of that piece right before the rubber part with the stylish holes.

Sorry about your Spyder. :( I did some mods on Orbit this weekend, and when putting her back together I found I put a scratch on my plastic. I hurts, but at least I did it myself.

When I picked up Orbit there was a small scrape on the front rim, and did not notice it at that time. About two weeks later when giving her a bath I found it. Took her to dealership, and at first they were lets see if we can warrenty it out for you. Of course they told me that BRP said no they would not fix it, and said it is too bad I did not notice it within a couple hours of leaving the dealership. It would have been better, but then I remembered the pics I had my wife shoot when the salesman did his final instructions for the Spyder. I blew one one of the shots up 400 percent, and what do you know? It was there plain as day. I copied it to a cd, and gave it to them to see for themselves. The amazing thing is the next day BRP approved the warrenty. The next time I took Orbit there for her 600 they did an inspection, and had me sign a paper stating no damage to the Spyder. They said they do this with all bikes that come in to validate pre-existing damage. They did not like that I took pics of the service guy doing the inspection, but I told them they made me sign their form and this was my form.

Thanks for your concern. Yeah, I'd rather it be me who scratches the spyder rather than some jerk.

Ok-- I get yeah----

It's in the area circled in BLUE here....

If that is where the tabs from the Y panel come down--- they have a tendency to pop out all the time -- something that has happened to my Spyder from day one.img0434resized.jpg

You've spotted it dead on. The tabs were nicely snugged behind the black parts on both sides before I brought it to the mechanic. When I got home, I saw that the tabs on both sides were sticking out and on the black paint. Good thing only the right side got scratched and not the left one.

I would get use to poor service, and getting screwed on service. Remember you own a spyder with limited dealers which control, and can only service your ride.
Call BRP, and they will tell you they have no control over their dealers, and all issues need to be taken care of at the dealer level. They will suggest you try another dealer. Soon you will run out of dealers, and the desire to own a fun to ride machine.

Illuzion, I understand your unhappiness over finding a visible scratch on your Spyder, but I don't really understand the degree of your apparent anger. Have you ontacted the dealer and been denied? Why not give them a chance to make it right before you get so mad and drag it out over the Internet...or take repairs into your own hands? You seem to be stewing in your own juices. Something is just not right about your reaction. :dontknow:

I think you're confusing the original poster with the recent crybaby of the group who refuses to tell us all what really happened and why he's so upset with his dealer, BEST and BRP.....;)

I know the difference. It would be nice if the other one would just quit the whining and tell us what's going on.

I'm not mad. I actually have humor about the situation. I'm just showing the internet that there are mechanics out there who will scratch your spyder. I'd rather not do anymore business with the dealer. I'm sure the dealer would just deny they scratched it or they would probably say I did it. In all humor, I think my situation is rather funny. There aren't many dealers out there for us spyder lovers (california for me) and once we dislike one and the other, we might run out of places that can work on our spyder.

FYI, I'm not mad. :doorag: I'll just have it buffed out by a detailing shop. Hopefully it'll be cheaper than $139 to replace it.

Even with the scratch, I'm still a rock star with this thing on 3 wheels.

Yeah, I'm not the crybaby one. I'm the jokester :joke: although the scratch is not a joke.

Come to think of it Scotty. There would be nothing wrong for someone to get mad at the situation of a mechanic scratching their spyder. It would be great to be able to post here without someone complaining about my posts. If some other user has got your fire going, please don't vent it towards my way. I believe the general consensus of us spyder owners would be mad. I just try to keep a positive outlook and posted here to see what others would think about it. Thankfully, Firefly says it can be easily buffed, so I contacted a detailing shop to have it done tomorrow. Posting to Spyder Lovers just saved me money. Proves the point that Spyder Lovers is useful to us newbies and veteran users.

Clue: the one most are referencing rhymes with Tater, and keeps coming on with digs and jibes at :spyder2:--but does not get into any details about what his problem(s) really is(are). Has been on several threads with the same M/O.

There!--I have probably started a controversy--but I am getting to the point of put up or shut up and IMHO--am guessing that a lot of people are feeling the same.

This is a great site for getting answers to questions and getting issues solved--I have a problem with perpetual complainers and people who only want to make digs.

Asbestos suit on. :roflblack:

Truth be told; There are just some folks out there who will never be happy... The best that any of us can hope for, is to not let them spoil the fun that WE are having!
Illuzion,
I'd still take a swing by your dealer to see what they'll offer to do about it JMHO...

:agree:

If they really want to get some help or sympathy they need to articulate what actually happened in an adult fashion with details.

Not many dealers in California? You've got to be joking??

With all due respect-- and I do feel sorry for your scratch--- it does seem you're being a bit picky about such a small scratch-- one that you'll eventually end up with anyway due to the way those tabs always find their way onto the front of the Spyder......;)

Really hope you can get it buffed out to your liking......

But did you really buy it to look at it--- or RYDE IT ? ;)

Let us know how it turns out.....

Firefly, I don't care about the scratches I do myself. In regards to not many dealers in California, there are only 2 in the bayarea. I bought it to look at it! Muhahaha. It is one of the reasons we buy it. Right? Scratches wont happen to the front of my spyder. 3M is awesome. :-P
