:( Sucks. After I got work done on my Spyder. I noticed that the top center piece (just below the console) of the RS wasn't fitted on correctly by the mechanic. So the latches on the side of it scratched the right black side panel (the top part of it anyways). It's soo stupid because I just goto get some work done and they scratch my baby. What would you do? How would you feel if this happened to you?

:gaah: This is bad for 2 reasons...
1.They scratched your Spyder!
2.You didn't unload on them at the time of delivery... Then they wouldn't have the chance to say, "Prove it was our guy!"
Try taking it back to them to see if they 'fess up...
Let us know what happens and GOOD LUCK!

I certainly wouldn't feel good about it. I'd go back and "diplomatically" see if there is a just resolve. Whatever you do don't hire a lawyer and sue. Will cost you more in attorney's fees than what you will recover.

Oh what the he##, for a scratch, I'd say, sue the bas@@@@. Or at least, invoke the lemon law.:roflblack:

Not sure exactly what you're talking about-- the Y panel or the cluster -- and what you mean by the 'bacl' of the panel.

A pic would clear things up....

Kidding aside--you should go back to the dealer and "diplomatically" talk with the manager.

That is what they carry insurance for. They will either "fess" up or blow you off. If the later, then you might want to find a new dealer.

Another consideration--how big a scratch? If minute--I would not get to excited--things happen. If large and cosmetically ugly--they should take care of it.

A picture would be nice to show us what you are talking about.

I don't get to excited about a scratch--that is going to happen eventually.

A similar thing happened to Nancy's Spyder. I called the dealer and reported it as soon as I noticed, and took it in for them to see a couple of weeks later. They ordered the parts and took care of it.

Same thing happened to our RT; looked like something was dropped on one of the panels . . . . our dealer replaced it for us
and didn't change a word. A good dealer should put as much value on you (the owner) and your Spyder as you do . . .
it's just gonna make the dealership look better.

I take my digital camera and snap photos (with date/time stamp) of all views of my bike right when I drop it off. Do a inspection when you pick it and notify the dealership right then if you notice any damage.

A mechanic scratched a front fender on my ryde at Greater Vancouver Power Sports and they replaced it, no questions, their dime.

I had the shop just do the parking brake and trottle body services and when they rode the wifes RT-S up onto their ramp, the mechainc cut/dinged the Spyderprops Cat heat shield on one side. They didn't do anything for me. I didn't feel bad because I forgot to mention that they were installed before I handed the bike over to them.

It's not a large scratch as you can see. But it's quote noticeable. :( Point is, they scratched my Spyder. Those bastards! I took off the part and I'm probably going to see if an auto detailing shop can buff it out and/or fix it.

Thanks for the pic-- but for the life of me I can't figure out where this is on a Spyder RS ???

Looks like it should buff out pretty easy.

Are you serious?

Wow.

I can't even say that I've ever checked my spyder over at all after having service work done. I figure it's gonna get scratched here and there no matter what if you're riding it very often. 43,000 miles and I have plenty of 'battle scars' --- but nothing like SethO has on his bike! :roflblack:

I've taken my spyder to the dealer naked before (the Spyder - not me). Figure why should I pay them to remove and re-install the panels!

@Firefly. Thanks for the reply. It's this part. That's good to know that it would be easy to buff out. :-) BTW, is this piece metal or plastic? Feels like plastic to me.

Sorry about the sratch

Sorry about your Spyder. :( I did some mods on Orbit this weekend, and when putting her back together I found I put a scratch on my plastic. I hurts, but at least I did it myself.

When I picked up Orbit there was a small scrape on the front rim, and did not notice it at that time. About two weeks later when giving her a bath I found it. Took her to dealership, and at first they were lets see if we can warrenty it out for you. Of course they told me that BRP said no they would not fix it, and said it is too bad I did not notice it within a couple hours of leaving the dealership. It would have been better, but then I remembered the pics I had my wife shoot when the salesman did his final instructions for the Spyder. I blew one one of the shots up 400 percent, and what do you know? It was there plain as day. I copied it to a cd, and gave it to them to see for themselves. The amazing thing is the next day BRP approved the warrenty. The next time I took Orbit there for her 600 they did an inspection, and had me sign a paper stating no damage to the Spyder. They said they do this with all bikes that come in to validate pre-existing damage. They did not like that I took pics of the service guy doing the inspection, but I told them they made me sign their form and this was my form.

I'm still having trouble visualizing just where on that panel that is.. just can't figure the angle out....

I think I'd be more concerned about the area I circled here----- ;)

Yes-- it's plastic....
