• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

MC Cruise control

Questions

New member
I just received my new Spyder RS SE5 cruise control from Australia over the weekend. I'm going to have my local dealer install it for me because they don't make wrenches, etc., to fit my 75=year-old hands.

Does anyone have any advice: potential problems, things to caution the service people about, or just in general?

Mil gracias,

The instructions included were complete, including great pix. The throttle connection is quite complex-looking, but went as illustrated. Just took time. The most difficulty I had was the clutch switch connection, which is way down in front below the headlights (yes, the console comes off). When we got ours, the clutch connection required cutting a wire once we got in there. Also added a vacuum 'tank' (made from 2.5" plastic pipe) later, which smoothed the operation. Book (and Tony) said the tank was optional but not necessary.

Unit works at least as good as the CC on my BMW LT.

Yeah! The instructions are certainly complete and you won't have some problems with it since it's new and the installation will work well for sure if you're going to let the local dealer to fix it for you.

They are a great unit.I had my dealer install it(being short on time and patience)It works as well as the factory job on my RT.
The local Brp dealer liked them so much that they have become a dealer for them.

:agree: a very good cruise.
Problems? Yes, if:
-not installed/tune correctly.
-mechanics loosing magnets when balance the rear wheel.
-replacing the backlights with LED's (solution on this forum).
-installing Aerocharge Turbo (solution on this forum).

There is a bolt that is associated with the throttle cable interface unit (CIU) that, if tightened too much, will bind the throttle. I had this problem

See Page 19 of the Installation Manual

Also, I'd order spare magnets in case your mechanic loses one (or more) when working around the rear wheel. If he loses a magnet, you won't have to wait to order new ones
