• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Maybe I just need a hug

I'm really down in the dumps over the reliability of my RT-S. It's in the shop again, this time because it won't shift (SE-5). Dealer seems to think it's a bad module and has one on order. I feel like this unit has had so many problems that I now am afraid to venture too far from home for fear of it breaking down again. I've faithfully had all my service done on or early per the schedule, check all the fluids and tires often, take really good care of it but I like to ride a lot. It's got about 12,500 miles on it now. I love ridding this machine and that may be part of my feeling so low about it always being in the shop. My dealer seems to be a good one but it always takes 1 to 2 weeks everytime it's in for a breakdown. 12,000 mile service took a week even though I had scheduled it with them ahead of time. Broken exhaust header was a 2 week ordeal. I've complained to my dealer and BRP about the reliability to not much avail. I don't want my money back or a different brand unit, I would like a different unit but that's not going to happen. How do I re-energize my enthusiasm and re-establish trust in my RT?

I have almost 7,000 miles on my RT-S. I have had no problems. Love it. My dealer always gets me out the same day I bring it in for service. Keep your head up. Hopefully it will get better.

Well Frank I really don't know what to tell you, but that I will be more than willing to give you that hug if you make it to Cuba and are still riding your RT in April.
I guess I am one of the luck ones as (knock on wood) I have not had any problems with my RT. Over 7000 miles on it now and still waiting for my dealer to get the DPS from BRP, but no problems with it.
I am sorry to hear of your bad luck and I hope it changes for the better real soon.
Good luck and C-YA in Cuba RL

They say every cloud has a silver lining. I know that doesn't help much. KNOCK ON WOOD (OR MY HEAD) I have a 2009 can am . I have 4734 miles on it and it runs like a top. Hope this doesn't come back and bite me in the a__. But anyway, my heart goes out to you because I know exactly what you are going through. I am 73 years young. In 1967 I purchased a brand new ford mustang with a 390 motor.:gaah: I wanted this kind of a car so bad I dreampt about. Well needless to say at 6700 miles I dumped it. What a piece of junk. That broke my bubble and I was heartsick over it. The rear end was growling, :yikes:the valves bent because of it being out of time when I bought it. No body from Ford would listen to me.:chat: I bought this car new. I traded it on a 68 pontiac GTO:yes:. That was a good car. So hopefully it will turn out all right for you.:2thumbs:.Good luck and hang in there.

:agree:+1. Hugs are free.

I recommend trying a different dealer if possible. Two weeks time in the shop for every problem is not the way this is supposed to go.

Sorry, I ain't huggin, but I will offer my own personal opinion. (and I know what they say about "opinions") However, I agree with Steve. See another dealer.

Just from the sound of your experiences with your dealer, I would think that you would benefit from the 5 hr ride to Cuba to have your services (and repairs) done at CowTown USA. Fast excellent service tech's and very thorough. They don't guess and then order parts that are going to take two weeks. They do their research. That shifting issue sounds like one I’ve heard of before. The RT-S was in and out, with regular scheduled service, problem solved, same day. Make an appointment, ride down, spend the night and ride back the next day. A lot less frustrating than two weeks without your RT.:doorag:

Frank,
I don't think you just need a hug, unless it's from someone in authority at BRP. What you need, and I need, and several other owners of "problem child" RT-S's is some serious face time with someone that cares! Unfortunatly I don't think BRP has anyone like that on staff. My dealer has gone out of their way to help with the problems I've had, the real hold up is tech support and parts supply from BRP. I've come to the conclusion that their tech support people either don't ride Spyders, or if they do, it doesn't happen very often and probably doesn't amount to very many miles ridden.
I hope Carlo can get you the support you need but it's a damn shame we have to spend time trying to get ahold of a single person to address our problems! Good luck Frank, I think you're gonna need it.

BAD Update

Dealer call today, got new module, installed and guess what,,,,,it still won't shift. He now thinks it's a bad solenoid. I give up. Dosn't look like I'll have it back this weekend either. Hey, on a good note, sounds like he's smiling when he calls. Now what's that worth?:gaah: RT has a great body, now if I could find some great inners.
