This is an old subject that I can't find the original posting on, so I thought I would post up a new thread to revive an old subject that appears to be relevant to current models.

While doing a pre-flight inspection on my 2014 RT I noticed the top of the brake master cylinder was dirty with a combination of oil (brake fluid) mist and dirt, including a noticeable drip line. I remember that was an issue raised on earlier models and was solved by replacing the master cylinder gasket with an aftermarket one from a Chrysler/Dodge. I did this update on my 08 GS and it solved the problem.
So I took off both caps and clearly saw a great deal (relatively speaking) of brake fluid had leaked past the gasket and was on the topside of the cap, causing the misting and dripping. I then inspected the gasket and saw the same large “V” shape venting slit that I saw on my 08, which had obviously resulted in that one leaking. There is no way I want brake fluid dripping off of the master cylinder, so I replaced the gasket with this one.

Now hopefully the problem is solved.
ray: I did it on the 08.
However, I would suggest people check their newer model bikes, because it appears the original troublesome part has never been changed or updated. And, can be fixed for 6 bux and 30 seconds of time. :thumbup:
