Magnesium to Blue

My F3-S is magnesium with red frame. I like the new blue on F3, is it possible to buy blue panels from BRP and replace magnesium panels? I would keep magnesium panels. I would ask dealer if they would be able to do panel swap for me.

Yep just look up the part numbers on BRP parts site and order them. I plan on doing that myself being from Chicago area the blue with the orange frame will be a perfect Chicago Bears tribute.

Painting is not the best way to go. Hard to get a good paint job on the materials that the panels are made of. Paint will flake or chip after a while and under panel color will show.
My advise is wrap it the color you want or best replace the panels. Kind of late to be thinking this. Color choice at time of purchase as you know now is very important. If it were me I would not mess with it and love what you have before you mess the whole thing up!

You can order the panels....I would check with cheapcycleparts.com or the one Mike (blueknight911) recommends for some better prices. If not wrap and lastly paint....yours and your budgets choice....:thumbup:

Yep... Problem is, the Oxford Blue the 2017's come in... BRP has not actually published the paint codes for that one yet. I have a support ticket open through my dealer trying to get it from them as I need to color match my bags.

Thank you for the above replies, much appreciated. I love the colour I have and love the look of Oxford blue and therefore would like the best of both worlds. I would like to keep magnesium panels and have decided to buy new Oxford blue panels when available from BRP, because money is no issue and I could have the blue panels on for a year, then swap back to magnesium panels and then swap back to blue panels. I guess I could start a wardrobe for my F3-S.:roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:
If I ever decide to sell my F3 in the future, I would still have original magnesium panels.

I have no idea why you would proclaim this. The factory panels are painted. If the repaint job is peeling or cracking it simply was not applied properly or the panels not prepared properly. I'd put my aftermarket paint job up against any of the BRP paint applications. Its coming up on 2 yrs and 11k miles and its not chipped, flaked or cracked in any way. Yes, painting flexible plastic panels is different from painting steel but I think good body shops figured out painting Corvettes a long time ago. Its not new. Non metalic body work has been used since the 50s.

And to the OP, even a GOOD paint job would be cheaper than buying all new panels. I spent about $2k all in to paint mine blue and did more panels than the factory does as I did not want black fenders or top console.

One persons devalued product is another's custom bike. Some just do not want to ride exactly what they factory built. There is a good reason so much money is made selling accessories.

And other than you know blue was not offered on a 2015 F3, you would be very hard pressed to tell my bike was painted even if you removed the body work. Its done to a quality an assembly line cannot achieve at a reasonable cost. Well, then again, I guess you can tell. Factory paint has orange peel, a defect that mine and most good custom paint jobs do not. IE better than oem 'quality'.

People value different things. I would never buy a vehicle in appliance white, it devalues the product. JMO

We do not need to like the same things but back on subject, the OP wants to change the color of his bike. There is no good technical reason to favor new panels over repaint if done correctly. IE full removal and prep.

It's nice that you can afford to purchase a wardrobe for your bike. I don't disagree with jc, painting isn't a bad thing either. For the model and year we chose, there were only two options and we chose one we like. But we plan to change it up a bit, make it our own so to speak. Have looked at wraps, and those can be customized, but what we think is the best option is Plasti-Dip.

We can go with just about any color, change it if we want by peeling off the other color (that's right, you can easily remove it), and when it is applied, it acts as a protective barrier for the original finish.

Just sharing. Keep the shiny side up.

Thank you frogfly for the link. jcthorne F3 is stunning and I have mentioned this before. I have sent an email to my dealer about ordering the Oxford blue panels and for them to fit it. I will be keeping my magnesium panels too.
