• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

MAGIC MIRRORS

I have installed a set of these on my 2014 RT. I haven't finished mounting the second one, and I am not really comfortable having them with no tether. I know from looking a some videos that they used to come with
tethers in the kit, but mine didn't come with any, and heard that they aren't including them anymore.
I would like to know what everyone else thinks . I have a friend that used a piece of string and a piece of a paper clip.
Could I see if there are any other suggestions and or pictures of how you tethered yours.
Thanks
Steve

You can use twine as Merlot video shows too. Mine came with a tether looked like a binder clip with fishing line crimped together for the loops.

Tether

I used steel fishing leader lines as tethers. I had previously used some for the side panels. The clips allow easy removal when clipped thru a ring attached with screws.

I just did 2800 miles to SpyderFest including some pretty rough roads without tethers. They aren't going anywhere once you confirm they are properly in place. YMMV, but I have no plans to use tethers.

Doc Riverside has started a thread about tethers for these mirror mounts.
I think that he's got a pretty slick setup!

I think these mirror mounts look like a nice solution to the problem of mirror removal. I was wondering however, does anyone have any hard data that shows that these really strong magnets will not cause any issues with the gauges, displays, computers, etc ? Fairly mild magnets can cause some serious issues with instruments. To show this, just put a magnetic compass any place around the dashboard. The speaker magnets will not allow the compass to work properly. Has anyone had any problems related to the strong magnets?

I'm sure Peter A will be along shortly to answer in full, RC, but there was a question like this on an Aussie site and in a nutshell, as long as you have not moved any cables and have installed the magnets as per instructions, this has been thoroughly tested and has not shown any problems.

Hey Bob, I just spent last Monday and Tuesday at his place installing my Triaxis bars, moving my GPS, and some other things. His teathers work really well.

They must be verrrrry painful though, if they are attached to your "teats", David :ohyea:.......even worse if your mirrors do actually come loose.......oooooowwwwwwwww:yikes:

One you take the mirrors on and off a few times, the BRP clips bend are more likely to fail than these magnets and there was no tether system for them. :yikes:

I'm good with no tethers.

Magic Mirrors

I got my Magic Mirrors today. I ordered them on April 22 and got them today May 15 and it was a very easy installation.

lots of ideas to glean from . cheap insurance if you think you need it.

beat on mine pretty good last weekend . they didnt move.

There was someone that had a high temperature reading on the guage after installing the MM mounts, they simply moved some wires around and problem solved. Personally I think the better solution is to just remove the analogue guages and let them go digital, boom accuracy and room for more!
