• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Has anybody heard if there is going to be some sort of magazine or publication on all things can am spyders & such? Just wondering.

I doubt there's a publisher in the world foolish enough to throw money into such a dud. Why do you need a magazine anyway, when all the information you need can be found online?

Interesting..!!

We are published quite often and in many places. You can get much on line as well but being a young to the industry ryde we have little chance for a magazine dedicated to us. Reguardless of what you read here we are, for the most part, problem free and would not fill but an issue or two....:roflblack:

The subject has been brought up a few times in years past.

For a magazine to be profitable it has to have a large following and attract many advertisers to sponsor it and make it profitable.

A Spyder only magazine probably would not cut it for the above qualifications. Your best bet for information is to come to a site like Spyderlovers. You get more information about everything :spyder2:, and it's free as well.

Specialty magazines seem to be going the way of the dinosaur these days--thanks to the internet.

:agree: I spent 24 years in the magazine publishing business, and worked for some of the biggest publishers in the industry such as Murdoch and Ziff-Davis. During my career I spent many hours in board rooms contemplating new launches. A vast majority of ideas were rejected. The start up cost of a new magazine is high, and the risk is enormous. The risk is even higher today since the internet has dethroned print media as the king of information.
No magazine can survive without advertising revenue, but advertisers only buy if there is a high potential for readership. Readership comes from unique content that is unavailbable elsewhere. The idea of a Spyder specific magazine has failure written all over it. As I stated previously, I doubt there's a publisher foolish enough to launch a magazine like this.

Takes big money. I know Wingworld is down to a thin little thing. All the dues go to prop up the the head shed in Arizona.

If I remember correctly, Lamont asked us if we would like a dedicated magazine back in '08. You can see the result.

I know my CycleWorld mag is thinner and has more advertizing. It also has an internet presence that i imagine will someday become an internet subscriction service and they will drop the paper mag. Which is too bad as I like to read old style books and mags. I'm a dino I guess.
