• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Madstad vs F4

If both wind shields were suddenly available tomorrow and you needed to buy one immediately, which one would you choose? Let's hear some pros and cons. Anyone here had experience with both of them?

If it were me Madstad simply because BRP over prices all of their stuff. I can get a new BRP jacket the msrp's for ~$500 for $200 if you look around. That said I would wait for Cal Sci to become available. Never heard a bad thing about any of theirs.

Neither of those choices is a BRP product..........

Choices

Of course they're not from BRP, that's the whole point of investigating the aftermarket alternatives. Generally the aftermarket stuff is cheaper but in this case we're looking for a more effective windshield for us taller folks who don't want wind blasted in the face.

I'm actually looking for a shield for my wife's F3 and she's 5'0" tall. I'm just not convinced the BRP shield will suit her.

No Harm-No Foul

It's difficult to tell on a forum just what the other person is getting at. I would think at 5'0" tall the Blue Ridge will come pretty close. I'm thinking it can be raised at the back end to tilt it up a bit using steel strap bolted to the instrument supports and to the bracket on the windshield that normally bolts directly into the instrument supports. Another post has this being done to the Gage Shield and I think it is possible to raise the other BRP windshields as well. In your wife's case it might not be needed and maybe only raising it by an inch or two if it is.

The Blue Ridge and the Gage Spoiler do not use the same mount so raising it an inch or two would be an easy fix. That being said I do have something in the works that I will happily pass along if it does pan out.

Lack of Brackets

I think you're correct in that F4 doesn't make the mounting brackets and I also believe Cee Bailey's doesn't either. They're mainly into replacement windshields (just the acrylic part) for on your existing brackets, assuming you have them. This sets Mastad apart by having their own brackets.

I will most likely wait for the f4 as they are almost bullet proof.. I have found them to be optically very clear and tough as nails. Not many shields I wouldn't think twice grabbing the windex and a roll of paper towels and not worry about it scratching..

F4 Customs

High Don at F4 here. Many have called or e-mailed wanting us to provide a windshield for the F3. We are in development at this time and will be providing both the shield and the hardware if required. F4 Customs normally just does replacement glass but in this case we will develop whatever is required.
The shield will be made from our Highly Scratch Resistant polycarbonate. We use only the High Optics grade so that there is no distortion. They also will shed rain as this is built into the process and coating as we make the shields.
I will keep you posted as our development continues.
