• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Apple keeps urging me to update to OS X El Capitan. Is it worthwhile to update?

I updated, and then went back to Yosemite. I had a few problems. I couldn't use uTorrent (downloading movies), and my EyeTV HD stopped working. There may have been other issues, which I didn't find before going back to Yosemite. I'd say try El Capitan; you can always go back. I have Time Machine, and system restore was easy. Also, try a Google for problems when upgrading to El Capitan.

Thanks.

We have had no problems with El Capitan. Yosemite on the other hand was a lot of problems for us.

Mac

I read the reviews and they seemed to be so/so. I use a 2011 Mac Book Pro and one of the reviews mentioned that El Capitan took a long time to load on a Mac of this age. I usually update, but until I read more positive responses I am going to stay with what I am using.

What computer and how old is it?

If you have Time Machine on your Mac, I'd go ahead and try it. You can always restore it. I have a 2008 iMac, and had no trouble loading El Capitan, other than it took a while (1 hr. 20 mins.). But, just because it loads okay, and you go into your normal files/programs and they run okay, doesn't mean you won't get to a file/program eventually that has a problem.

Like I said, my uTorrent and EyeTV HD didn't work correctly, and I found that a week after downloading El Capitan.
