• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Luggage Rack

I'm looking for thoughts on adding a luggage rack to my 2014 RT Ltd.
I'm wondering about weight limits for the top compartment.
Suggested limit for that compartment is 20 lbs.
If I add a luggage rack, do i need to include the weight (say a 10 lb backpack) to the weight that is inside the top compartment or in your opinion will it be safe to have approx. 20 lbs in the compartment and 10 lbs on the rack.

Thanks for your input!

Don't know..!!

the weights but you do have to consider it is sitting on top of the trunk so it is part of the limit. It is also bolted to the lid stressing the hinges lock and bolt points. Works great for bulky light items and a great help...

:agree: My only concern with them, is making sure that covers will still fit over the bike...
I'm pretty sure that BRP's full ocver won't; but the travel one "might"... :dontknow:

Here is a rack on a 2014 with a kuryakyn bag,

Rack 3 lbs
Bag 2 lbs
Wifes junk in bag 4 lbs

Works great and i think it looks good

Never though about the cover (I have both).
Something to definitely keep in mind, thanks Bob!

Why yes; I DO see the resemblence now! :2thumbs:

I just put the rack on my 2012 a week ago. Haven't tried it out yet, can see where the weight of it, the bag and the gear needs to be considered. To help with stressing the hinges, I added a second strut to the lid so there's one on both sides (following the example of a fellow spyder rider that has the same setup on his and helped put mine on). All parts for that ran less than $90.00 and I ordered them from my dealer.

As far as covers, he and I have the same ultra guard full cover, and it fits just fine. Haven't tried the travel but should have occasion to do so this weekend.

The ultragard travel cover fits fine

The BRP cover for the 2012 RT will not fit with the Diamond R luggage rack. I don't know about the 2014s or other manufacture's racks.

Go here to see how I fixed mine.

That Diamond R rack looks great and you couldn't find nicer people to deal with!
Nice job on the stitching on your cover, not sure if I'm that talented! :roflblack:
Here's the rack I've been considering from Value Accessories...
