Thats the 64 thousand dollar question' There's a lot of Variables on filling the Spyders tank.
Just figure 1 gal after the light turns on then you won't have to walk.

Depends upon how long you have been driving after the light comes on.... Yepper I know I am being a smartie but, for some reason I don't see the light for sometime myself.. Just this weekend I had the light several times and when I filled up it was 4.5 ....5.4.....5.8 ... gals.
Just watch your miles driven and stop and get gas every 100-120 miles.

I know you can go several miles w/ no bars showing on your gauge.
..But it's not the greatest feeling while your ryding to the gas station:shocked:.

I've only had the low fuel light come on 3 or 4 times but every time it's come on so far I had less than a gallon left in my RT. So I really didn't want to see the low fuel light come on. But I went riding today hunting some ghost towns that I heard about and took whatever road I wanted to without worrying about fuel. I had two of the REDA gas cans in a saddlebag so I figured I had a 50 to 60 mile reserve if I needed it. Turned out I didn't need them but they were a comfort anyway. One of these days I know I'll need them.

That's almost exactly what I have done under the same circumstances. With only 6.0 usable gallons in that tank, it leaves only a gallon or less of available fuel, when the light comes on. I agree with Forrest...stop every 100-120 miles. You know your Spyder's needs better than the gauge or light. Having the trip meter on the main display of the RT is a big help in the fuel department.

I also use the 120-mile rule as well as programming my GPS gas gauge to display a fuel icon when I hit that mileage mark. That way it gives me a few more miles to "find" a gas station before calling AAA from the side of the road! Oh and carry a $20 in the frunk for emergency fuel use.

BRP should have a display readout of est. miles left when the low fuel light comes on like some Harley's have instead of most of the idiot warnings that it diplays.

Thanks for answering my question about the low fuel light. I did ride 133 miles this past weekend before the low fuel light came on but all the riding was on country roads.

Gas Mileage w/RT-S

I have been getting 30-33 mpg consistenly with my RT. I really watch the RPM and try not to let it get below about 2500 in any gear. This is riding a lot 2up with my spouse.:chat:

I guess I use it as a real life "idiot light".... when it comes on, it reminds me to monitor my Trip Meter. Light seems to come on around 130.
I get fuel around 150 miles (+-10).
Ususally takes 5.xx'sh gallons to top 'er back off.
BTW: I pushed it to 177 miles and ran empty.:helpsmilie:

I have waited two separate times for the bars to completely disappear and both times I can only get in 4.5 - 4.6 gallons. It is still slightly nerve wracking though because one time I was unexpectedly caught in stop and go traffic and was idling/riding for quite some time after the bars disappeared. :yikes:

I typically find 120 miles = about 4 gallons of fuel. That's on about 10 fill ups so far.

Using the 100 to 120 miles before filling up has worked for me. I don't trust the lights or gage's and by using the mileage I know I am safe.

I usually fuel shortly after my light comes on. I've never put more than 4.25 gallons in and that's when the needle has been deep red. I'm usually right about 120 miles when I fuel up my bone stock RTS.

Today I put on 175 miles before the low fuel light came on. I was watching the gauge and hoping it was working properly. I will say those are probably the best numbers I've seen. The most nerve racking part was I was in that no mans land in I-5 through Camp Pendleton.
