• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Loud click when letting clutch out

Okay, more info; the click is gone, the rear sprocket is straight, the belt is tracking 1/8 inch off the edge of the sprocket. I'm wondering if an axle spacer or something like it is missing.

A missing spacer certainly can cause the belt to be off. Been there dine that. Otherwise a belt realignment should bring it back in to spec.

Measure the distance R and L from the back tire to the swingarm.

Never thought I'd do this

Okay, I called Carlo, Spyder's been laid up 3 weeks, belt still won't track right, it moves out and overhangs the rear sprocket by a good quarter inch. Did anlignment with the rear wheel off the ground and running in gear, killed it and set belt tension, ran it 20 feet and belt was hanging of the edge. Anybody got ideas?

thanks,
john

:agree: They said it was OK, but I don't buy it. This is a classic symptom. Bad output shaft bearing could also do it, or a bad swingarm bearing/bushing. It is also possible that they completely missed a rear bearing issue or a damaged hub. This shouldn't be that hard to find. A straightedge and some careful inspection would do it. The mechanical stuff seems to stymie way too many of these modern, computer-oriented techs.

When I was there today, I was told they checked the end play and side play on the countershaft, and it is in spec. The splines are in good shape, the rear bearings are new, the axle is showing no signs of wear, there have been 2 different hubs, wheels and sprockets on it. They have called BRP several times, and there has been no callback. I emailed Carlo and got back a pretty much boilerplate answer. I know the techs at the dealer are frustrated, and I'm a ways beyond that. Any suggestions?

The only thing left is a damaged belt, from the sounds of things. I'd still check the swingarm bushings/bearings, too, and recheck everything that was previously ruled out, especially any play of the front sprocket on the output shaft splines. I'd also check the motor mounts for wear or looseness, and look at the engine alignment.

Carlo called!

Had a good conversation with him, went through all I've been told, he said he'd have a tech call my dealer and help them out.

Spyder's ready!

Dealer called, don't know the specifics, but I'm way past ready to pick it up.:doorag: More when I get it.

Finally able to take a ride today, belt tracks fine, click is gone. Seems that when I swapped rims, things didn't go together quite right, don't know why. Anyway, the rear sprocket is seated properly, and runs true, and now I have to relearn how to ride it.
