• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Lots of weights on wheels

When I started investigating Spyders mostly ST/RT models I noticed one thing that peaked this old mechanics curiosity. Almost all of the newer RT's and ST's I looked at have ALLOT of weight on one and many times 2 of the front wheels and most have been the chrome wheels. Now this tells me in my mind more so when I see only one wheel with sometimes as many as 12 stick on weights in a strip on the wheels and only a few ounces or none on the other wheel, that there is something wrong. This could be the chrome not being applied evenly or a tire/rim that is bad. Now also maybe there is more stick on weight because this style rim can not accommodate a shorter clamp on car type weight. Anyone else notice this and has it peaked your curiosity?
Just put my deposit down on a 2014 ST Limited and will have it put together when my head pops out of the igloo in the spring.

Depends..!

Have noticed, and have found that there are several explanations. Aside from the normal assumtions like casting flaws, painting/chroming methods or applications, we come to human error. I see many tires mounted with the markers nowhere near the stem. Many tires have been static balanced because they do not fit the machine on hand. Some have been balanced without removing prior weights used etc. Now as for the new ones on the floor....that can be puzzeling. Still when you depend on outside suppliers you never know. Stick on weights always look like so much more and are more visable than clip ons which are usually located on the inside. Most of our ryders have had no balance problems nonetheless...

I think it is more of a tire issue than the rim. But of course the rim won't be perfect either. Just to put some context on it. In your example you saw 12 weights. So that's 3 ounces. Now if that was on a car tire and a good tire shop will split them between inside and outside. You would only see 1 1/2 ounce weight and not think much of it.

WEIGHTS

For what it's worth....My KENDA's needed more balance weights than any of the CAR TIRES I have used......I think that tells us something :gaah:IMHO.....Mike

Check the tire

One of the front tires on mine was out of round and replaced by the dealer. It too had what you see. I added beads to all tires.

Basically Kenda tyres are ummm.....not the best.

This is quite a common problem.
When a vehicle manufacturer asks a tyre maker who has NO experience
in making tyres for road use to then make a tyre for a high speed vehicle, what we have here is the
result.

Ummmm....Kenda has been making car and street bike tires for quite some time. Check out their site, lots of good info. A LOT of street bike riders are pretty happy with their Kendas.
Personally, I've had absolutely no issues with mine.[emoji57]
