• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I would like to but a spyder, but there are lots of questions? please help.
I do not like the forward leaning handle bars how much of the risers help set the bars back enough to sit straight up? Do you have to muscle it in turns and how is the steering are highway speeds? What options are best to buy at time of purchase? What is a good fairing height for highway use. My eyes dry out very easy. I will be wearing a helmet. Is the backrest good or is it best to buy an aftermaket backrest? Is there a magazine with info about Spdyer? How about a catalog of after market parts? Does the general maintenance require special tools? please give this novice some help thanks. redrider

Ohh..that is alot.
Others will add but here is a good start.
Go to the homepage of spyderlovers. You will see all the vendors that sell after market stuff.
The steering is much smoother than one would expect and is not at all hard.
If cash is not a problem, then go ahead and right a check to Corbin. They have by far the best bag/seat/backrest system out there. The BRP version works but Corbin is top notch.
I believe the risers out there are about 4" or 5" maybe. I don't use them but many of the touring types swear by them. You can get a 3" block from BRP if you don't want to cut the bars, you can go much further I think with the two choices out there.
As far as fairing..Not alot to choose from but I think there are a couple. Best thing to do is a search on the forums.
No mag as of yet, just the marketing stuff from BRP. Not enough peeps out there and we are mostly on here anyway, who needs the waste paper.
Maint, I do all mine and I am by far not very machnical at all. There are a few items you must take the bike into the dealer for as there is a computer system that gets hooked up called BUDS. Common for most cars out there, works the same way, it is the access to the computer on the spyder and can perform diags and code reviews.
First thing I did was create a list of just about after market item I wanted and then prioritized them and just started picking them off as money comes in.
Start with Corbin and Nomagicneon.com.

welcome
A new windshield may be the first place to start.
CHAD seems to be the most popular, and most expensive. http://www.industries7.com/stuff/I7_Spyder_WindShield_Pub.pdf

F1 http://www.f1windshields.com/Can_Am_Spyderx.htm and BRP are about the same style & price. Although the slider looks awesome.

Calsci is another http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/Spyderprod.html

May of us have tried a few different ones until we found the one that worked best for us.(I'm still looking)

The backrest. I have 3 kids that love to ride with me so this became my #1 priority. $500 on ebay. VERY comfortable.

Riser. I'm 5'11" and ride pretty up right. I'm getting the 1" riser to make me a little more comfortable. If you're shorter I'd go with the 3" or 4".

No Magic Neon:bowdown: The best of the best for accessories. You might as well send your pay checks right to them. If they don't have it, you don't need it.

Hope this helps. Do some searches on this site for anything. These guys and gals have seen it and used it all. :doorag:
