Meteorologically, Hurricane Irma is an almost perfect example of a tropical cyclone. Excellent symmetrical outflow, very little shear, and plenty of warm water below to feed it. This hurricane is already setting records and is going to affect a lot of lives. Fascinating and terrifying at the same time.

I don't foresee the networks ceasing the blatant one-ups-manship until someone is severely injured or killed by flying debris on live TV. Somewhat reminiscent of Don Henley's song, Dirty Laundry.
