• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Help! Anyone know where I can get a lens cover for my rear brake light? 2009 ES. Tried Ebay and others and don't need the whole unit. Just the cover.

Any help would be much appreciated

there is no cover available.
only thing you can do is buy the whole assembly. that's sticking it to you, isn't it.
the good news is most got there replaced under warranty as i did.

:agree: Got mine replaced under warranty also, but dealer wanted to charge me around $45.00 for it at first. :gaah:

see if you can get it under warranty first if not then i will send you mine because i replaced mine with one from extreme kempy.

When you get it replaced, here is a suggestion. I now use a screw with a slightly bigger shank to replace the OEM. Stays nice and tight.

Just loss mine today

Today at 2:30 pm loss my going on hyw doing 75mph friend ride behind me let me know, went to dealer had to order whole unit so i feel for you they need to do something about this need light to the rear if stop by police will be taged and it problem by BRP need to do better job making sure it work without just fall off no order damages to bike

I'll have spares in a day or so...

I didn't want to send in my tail lights (and lose use of my Spyder while gone) to convert to LED so I'll have spares as soon as I can get the ESI parts in (delivery should be tomorrow afternoon and installation probably this weekend). If you're interested in one or both, make me an offer including shipping from 87544 (Los Alamos, NM).

I also have a 25" BRP windshield with deflectors, outside cover, 1" riser, passenger seat bag, stock seat, and stock tail piece up for grabs if you or anyone else is interested -- just too lazy to add it to the "for sale" section.

That's not a brake light. I thought that was a license plate light.

I am thinking they mean the reflector on the license plate light, as this is a known issue. I have never read about a brake light lens falling off the Spyder yet.

You can try to get it replaced under warranty, or there are a few other options available. If you search on this forum you will find a Wal-Mart based solution that is very inexpensive, I am running a Cat Eye light I got from J&P Cycles in Daytona, and others are using the bracket with light from Extreme Kempy.

Best of luck getting it taken care of.

I made sure I replaced the bulb that was burned out, tightened the screw up... and I put a few small gobs of Black RTV on the flange of the light housing... I check the screw every few rides, but it hasn't come loose at all, and if it did, I think that small amount of RTV sealant will keep the fixture together until I check the screw again.

Others here have done that and not lost one since.

I hate to say it, but I lost mine even thought I had glued the screw on with clear silicone. The screw and the silicone were still there when I got home form my last road trip. The cover and the reflector were gone :gaah: I got an led running/tag light and installed it instead.

Nancy's cover broke, too, but it was laying on the garage floor. The center is very flimsy, and will crack and break out readily if the screw is tightened too far, since nothing backs it up. It may also crack from vibration...who knows? I cut a styrene plastic replacement piece to replace the part that was broken out, then reinforced that with an additional piece of styrene. (Handy to be a model railroader so materials and good solvent cement were on hand.) Since the repair, with the screw siliconed in place, the lens has stayed put for over two years. Siliconing the lens to the backing plate would save it from loss, too.

rear cover

Lost mine too, dealer gave a deal on it but I did not even think of warranity, geez :gaah:
