• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lost LH Lateral side panel.

Can say where or when other than on today's ride with Capt Bill. Got down to a friends house, got off and it was gone. The question is where is the best place to get a replacement. Cheap Cycle parts has the part at $174 but I've not dealt with them. Good folks or is there a better place to look?
Thanks, Pat

WHO TOOK PANEL OFF LAST

If you never took that panel off I would go to dealer and DEMAND THEY REPLACE IT.....because there is no way in H*LL it fell off by itself, I guarantee that.......I've had mine off more than a dozen times and it's so difficult I'm always worried something is going to break on it.......It's just not possible to fall off if properly put on.......jmho...Mike :bbq:

 I'm sorry to hear that you have to use them...
While I haven't had the "pleasure" of dealing with them; I've heard lots of folks in here talk about how good they are for this kind of thing...

when i lost mine i found that someone put grease on the grommets to help it go on easier. the dealer said he would never do that, nor would I. SO I HAD TO BUY THE NEW ONE

:agree: & just to be sure what panel you are talking about....:dontknow:. The one that provides access to check the oil? I see you have a 13RT, assuming you did get the heat fix all done:lecturef_smilie: how many miles ago was that? Hoping it is not a punk theft case. Let us know how it goes.

Lesson learned. My dealers' mechanics don't know how to put the panels on correct. Every service, I have to check to make sure they are latched in properly. The last three times, they were not latched properly.

When I wanted to discuss the issue with the shop manager, He told this was not his first rodeo. I will save this battle for another day. I need the service, and pissing off the department is not good. I already got one fired, so they tend to avoid me if possible. :yikes:

Panel checks are now a part of my pre-ride checklist.

I was the last guy to have the oil tank cover panel off. The only thing I can think of is I didn't get one of the buttons snapped in. I check my oil regularly and wasn't in any particular hurry but ... crying over it won't get it fixed. I'm just looking for a good place to get the replacement.
Looks as if Power Sports Warehouse is the cheapest by a long shot. I'll call in the morning and talk with them before I order.

Costly lessons are sometimes the ones that help us to learn not to do something twice.

Look up the Thread "Stupid Pills" to find out what else I did and the lesson I have never forgot. And that was about three years ago.

After reading about folks who lost panels, I made lanyards for mine out of 30lb test coated steel fishing leaders. I had one come off on I-81, one day, and when I was able to pull over, it was still there - just had to snap it back in place. Make sure the leader is not too long, or too short.

That sounds like a great idea. I'll try it.

i had them on mine, and at 50 mph, once the wind took it, it was like the lanyard was not there
What were you using for a lanyard. The speed limit on I-87 where my panel came loose was 70MPH and I was doing 75, at least - and mine held. I used two 6" 30lb test coated steel leaders on each panel, configured as shown in this photo.

powersportswarehouse.com depending on the color, $126.00 to $137.00
I replaced my frunk hood with them and it is a perfect color match, great to deal with.
