Loose screws

Hello from Austin TX. We have a 2011rts with about 2k mi. The two screws on the left mid panel are loose and will not come out or tighten,any ideas other than return to dealer. I will do that tomorrow
but was wondering if there was info on this type of problem. Any info on the no. Of and size of Dus
fasteners needed to replace all of the plastic screws.

If they are the two screws in the center of the panel,they are not fasteners.They hold pins that fit into grommets on the lower panel that hold the two together.I found out the same way.

As was said, if you are talking about the two silver fasteners with the security heads, they are not supposed to be loose. They hold the pins that fit into the rubber grommets. The angle at which tyhey are installed is critical, so your dealer would be the best bet to get them back like they belong, and pointed in the right directions. BRP made these a different color, used security heads which require a special tool, and put a warning in the owners manual, yet some owners and dealers still manage to try to loosen them.

The bit you will need to snug/tighten these fasteners is a #20 security torx bit (as shown). The rear pin is straight, but the forward pin is angled and needs to point upwards when tightened. You do not need to over-tighten these fasteners.

Neither of mine have pointed upwards, they both angled toward the outside (front).. if in doubt, at least try to match the opposite panel.

On my 2010 RT, the curved ones have a notched out place on the bottom that matches a protruding piece of the panel so that if you line that up when tightening, they will "aim" in the right direction - upward and forward a bit.

The problem was a missing grommet. I pulled the panel and found the hole where the grommet should be. Those little pieces of rubber are way over priced. I RTV,ed both the new and old one in place. Replacing the panel is a bit of a trick, the first part that needs to be placed in a grommet is the curved plunger and then the straight one.
