• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Loose negative terminal under seat...

... I loosened it. Now I can't tighten it back down. Is there a nut under the frame on the bolt that I cant get to?

:yikes: Yup!

You need to get an extra thin wrench (I think 10mm), and bend it a bit...
And don't ever loosen it again! (It's basically there just for jump-starting...)

Yikes is right. I am new to this spyder world. My check engine light came on and the dealer - 40 miles away - said to losses the negative terminal and take it off for a few minutes then put it back and try the engine again. I see the negative terminal under my 2010 seat and - that's how it got loosened. Probably gonna trailer it to my dealer. Can't go to AR in the morning. [emoji22]

He should have mentioned that the negative terminal on the battery is hidden behind the left rear storage compartment... :banghead:
You didn't do anything wrong...

Easy fix

Buy a cheap 10mm box wrench. Bend it into a U on a vise. Slip in the hole by the bolt. Tighten. Done!

You can probably find what you need at any bicycle shop -- many places on a bike where a thin "spanner" type wrench is needed.

Hope you get it fixed on your own .... Ann

Yikes...!!

That is one of the first things I learned here and fortunately before hand. I always wondered why they don't put a warning sticker there cause you are not alone on this. :gaah:

What awful advice from your dealer. Disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes will not do anything more than turning the ignition key off for 30 seconds will do. I hope it was the service writer, who in many dealer really don't know what they are talking about. If it was from the Spyder tech. Find a new dealer.

I dont know about my rtse6 but my subaru outback cleared a bunch of garbage by unhooking negative when i was stuck on interstate.

My Sons advise as opposed to tow truck.
Never had the problem again
