• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Loose ground at the Battery

Coming home yesterday from a nice ride when the dreaded limp mode light came on and the bike stalled while I was doing 55 on a bridge. Luckily it started right away and it went about 10 miles before it started actiing up again. This time it sounded like it was running on one cylinder before the light came on and the bike died. I decided to head to the dealership where I bought it, about 15 miles a way.

I got another 3 miles before it did it again but this time when it started the throttle would not repond. I turned if off, check the oil when the radio suddenly came on and scare the hell of out of me, lol. The key was off and the screen was blank but the radio was playing away.

I tried it again and it started to respont to the throttle imput so I limped back to the dealer ever so carefully. At first they told me that I would need to leave it there for a week but I explained the bike was one week old and I lived 60 miles away. They were great after that, took the bike right in, put it on the machine then tore into it. About 1.5 hour later they brought out the bike and told me it was a loose ground at the battery. The bike runs great now which explains a lot, it was really rough running before, seemed to be missing and died a few times for no reason.

My thanks to Lifestyles Honda in Mount Vernon for looking after me as they did. They even bough me a soda while I was waiting :congrats:

pleas read the threds that elplane you must check the battery cables at least every 500 miles and the fusess and relays they vibrate loose vibration from the engine.ive told this 20 times in other threds, ive found my bat. wires loose 2 times and relays also.a loose relay or fuse can put you in limp mode fast.and dont let your foot tuch the brake or limp mode.so only use the brakes to stop.hope this helps.:chat::welcome::congrats:

Maybe put some loc tight on the cables to keep them tight. I can understand the relays and such but the battery in our RSs plain sucks to get to, so when I'm there I put the blue to it.:D

It does sound like that Dealer is pretty good at getting you in quickly for a look and serving up beverages. Glad you're back up and running without issues!

Careful where you install locktite or similar on electrical connections, as it actually can, given enough around the connection, degrade the connection. I guess it still can be used on the battery terminal, but be sure it is not too much and there is lots of room left for metal to metal contact where it is needed.

Hope that helps
Cheers.

Lol.. I owned the bike one week and I have been reading posts everyday for several hours to learn more. The search engine is very clunky but I guess I need to learn more about it. In any case thanks for the input.

Which relays are coming loose? Would a piece of foam rubber between the lid and the relay keep a push on them and keep them in place?

Regards,

Randy

My 08 came with foam inside the lid, I Never had a problem with relays, so maybe if there isn't any foam in yours it would be wise to add some.

yes foam will help the relays but not the fusess they are too small so you still need to keep an eyi out on them, they are under the seat and in the front storage comp.now all you need to do is ride like the wind and have fun.:2thumbs::chat::D
