• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking for RT oil filter

I'm new to the site and new to Spyder ownership. Purchased a 2012 RT and need to do the 600 mile service. Any help in where I can order oil filters that come with the o-ring and the 2 crush washers? It's quite a haul to the closest dealer and would like to order on-line.

:agree::agree::agree:

If you want stiffer handling and no over steer get BajaRon's sway bar kit while your ordering the oil filter... best thing I did to my 2012 RT-S was to install Ron's sway bar.

If he does I would get them there!nojoke

Can not go wrong dealing with Ron!

If your RT is an SE5 with the short transmission oil filter, buying both filters, and hardware, from Ron is a slam dunk. If however it's an SE5 with the longer transmission filter, pursuant to Can-Am's service bulletin of May 2012, I have not heard if Hiflo makes one yet. Ron can answer that question for you.

If your RT is an SM5 then none of this applies other than BajaRon is the place to get the filter, and hardware, you need.

As has already been stated, get the anti-sway bar! You won't regret it!

Might I also suggest you consider replacing the anemic (IMHO) engine magnetic drain plug. And while your at it replace the non-magnetic drain plug in your oil tank. Gold Plug is one source (engine & oil tank), Dimple is another, unless there is an SL sponsor who sells 'em then that would be my first choice. A side benefit of this is that you'll have an actual head on which to place a socket instead of a hex drive that probably more than one Spyder owner, or service department, has rounded out while trying to remove the plug.

Although I am perfectly happy with BajaRon's Hi-Flo filters, they do not meet BRP's specification for increased oil change intervals. If you want the BRP OEM filters and parts, I'd suggest one of our site sponsors, like Bert's Mega Mall or Honda Toledo East. They should be able to fix you up. Keep in mind that the 600 mile service is more than a mere oil change. Your dealer should check for fault codes and do any outstanding updates. he should also retension the belt with his sonic gauge, which would give you a baseline reading if you wish to compare to a Krikit gauge for the future. A complete list of the maintenance tasks required is shown in your owners manual.

ebay..!!

I have been getting oil change kits from ebay. Comes with 5 qt's XPS synthetic blend oil, filter/s o-ring/s and crush washers as needed for sm/se models. Last order had the upgraded filter mesh wrapped... :thumbup:
