 I applaud your honesty and your enlightened and considerate attitude. There are a lot of people who won't admit that the important thing to them is really just the sound of the exhaust, not some "safety" BS. Good Show! There are an incredible number of people who have a real in-your-face attitude about their exhaust noise. Your efforts to inflict as little pain as possible, is an appreciated difference. I'll ride with you anytime.IWN2YRD, I respect your views and all others who feel that way. I to have had kids and got older (not grown up I guess). Just signal and I will let you by or anyone else buy so you do not have to hear my exhaust, not real loud but probably more than you like. I do not buy in to the safety thing either so much but the sound increases my personal enjoyment while on my machine and others who have louder exhaust feel the same way when it comes right down to it. I do feel bad when I am around people who are offended by the sound and will distance myself if I can. The plain truth with all do respect is I enjoy the sound of my bike slightly more than I feel bad.
PLEASE if you ever see me at a ride and I am to loud I will respect that and do everything I can to group up with others who are louder so just let me know. I will do everything I can to work with others.
Great post here and very enlightening. I honestly never knew so many people hated loud exhaust. Will still keep mine but will be more mindfull.
I used to say that there were two things in the world that were never intended to hum.....hotrods and motorcycles. I think too many years of loud bikes, dragster headers, and riding BMWs got the best of me. I really don't like loud exhausts anymore...especially on my motorcycles. Even earplugs don't quiet things down enough to suit me when I am on the road. It makes me feel like a fogey, but the stealth bikes still win around here these days.
