• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Long Beep after turning off

I get a faint beep (its actually a tone, like the emergency brodcast) for a pretty decent amount of time (have not timed it, a few minutes). Is this normal? Its faint, but noticable if its quiet.

There have been a couple threads on this. It is normal and will last approx. 45 minutes. It takes very little current draw on the battery so you don't need to worry about battery drain. It is designed to keep the throttle body closed until the engine cools down. It was BRPs solution to the warm restart problem with the engine on the 2010 model.

Scotty,
one question for you, I have tried various throttle settings when restarting as others have stated, what should it be? a little...a little more.....some... and then some...or all the way?:dontknow:

The above are all scientific measurements in case you are wondering

Thanks

With my 2010,the following was the drill:

1. Try to start with the throttle off. If it cranks excessively...
2. Crack the throttle and try again. If it still won't start...
3. Open the throttle fully and crank through under WOT (Wide Open Throttle) to clear the cylinders, then try #1 again. If it fails to start try #2 again.

Mine never tested me beyond this limit, although sometimes it killed a plug in the process. It also made me look pretty foolish messing around with it.

Interesting, I was working on my 2011 the other day and there was a very quiet sound, cannot describe it but it was electronic in nature, after the engine was shut off. I disappeared in about 1/2 hour but came back as soon as I started it. It is so quiet I can only hear it with the tupperware off but my hearing is not the best any more.

Regards,

Randy

Thanks Scotty, mine always does it when someone is talking to me and I just get through saying what a great bike.......:spyder:

Rumor was there is an update coming out software update that will apply fix to 2010 models.

I usually don't touch throttle at all. Just point index finger out and touch starter button. NO throttle at all. May take two 2 second tries butusually get it to start.

:agree:

I look at it like a trouble shooting chart.
"Question: Does the warm/hot engine turn over when the starter switch is engaged?
Answer: Yes / No
If Yes: Proceed to "Cold Start" sequence and proceed normally.
If No: Check Battery Voltage" :roflblack:

Seriously, it seems it takes more than 1 start attempt to start a warm/hot engine. The most I have encountered was 4 attempts with NO throttle advancement at anytime. My technique is start switch engaged for 10sec and then rest period of 30sec for starter cooling. It usually starts on 2nd attempt....but not something I would bank on.
