• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Locking Handlebars

Desert Spyder

Does anyone ever lock their handlebars? I'm so afraid that I'm going to break the key inside the ignition when I do that I just do without.

Never.

But there again I never even pull my key out.nojoke

I do when I stop somewhere and I am not around Spydy for awhile. The key turns easy, I've never had a concern it would break.

We lock them lots of times. If you are having trouble turning the key, wiggle the handlebars a little bit. The lock slot is very small, and can exert a lot of pressure. In the right spot, the key turns as easily as it does to open the trunk or seat.

I lock the handlebars all the time. Never had a problem. As for leaving the key in it, no thanks. I guess I'm paranoid.

I had trouble at first but I found the whole secret is don't put any downward pressure on the key,and with a little wiggle on the handle bar it's smooth.

richie:)

The handlebars seem to lock equally well in both directions. I turn them whichever way would make it more difficult for a thief to get it moved.

Getting old!

Forgot that it locks.
Old saying; When you get old, the first thing to go is your sex life and I can't remember the second thing.;)

I always lock my handlebars when parking away from home, just as an extra precaution. Parking brake on, lock handlebars, key out is my routine. They lock the same way as a "regular" motorcycle.

The Spyder is SO attractive to people, like a magnet! Ever walk out to the parking lot and there's a crowd :chat: of people standing around your Spyder? So attractive and tempting! I always tell people that looking is free, but TOUCHING :yikes: will cost them!

Me too. I always lock them when away from the home and inside my garage. Never felt like they were going to give me problems or destroy the key, seems like a very well made mechanism.
