• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Live Wire near edge of Petrol Tank

I stripped down my Spyder RT -S 2010 to connect into the front speakers and run a lead to the back
I stripped down both sides as I wanted to clean those areas normally hidden by the panels – Its amazing how much Dirt/Dust you will find

When checking the fuel cap side I noticed a main Live feed running from the Battery towards the front –
I also noticed although it is Zip tied it looks like it could rub against the edge of the fuel tank – Although it is in some binding its not very thick and my concern were it could
wear and cause a short or even a fire ?

I know there has been some issues ref Spyder Fires and I am sure BRP are aware ref the routing of this Live feed
Just to be sure I have covered over the original binding with some Automotive conduit including double thickness where the Live goes near the Fuel tank edge

I also use coloured Zip ties to identify any new wiring I have added - e.g Red Zip ties to at least remind me there is a Live Cable inside

I have taken some Photos of before and after Just to highlight my findings

Hope some others find this information useful

In addition to the tough sheath, the edge covering shown in your first photo is there to prevent this.

Nancy's Spyder had the cable routed differently. It crossed the tank in multiple places, and ran tight against the seam. I adjusted it and moved it away from the seam (at the protector). It has not hit since. I'm sure this could have been a possible cause of a conflagration, but none were attributed to this. Both my RTs were routed as shown, with the stiff cable about 1/2" from the protector. Neither has shown signs of ever touching, much less being rubbed raw. If there is a concern, some split loom would provide more protection.

I'm happy yours show no sign of wear, but mine and apparently Mr.Sheppard's did.

We very well might have the only two that even remotely show any wear but I do think that owners should inspect this or have their dealer do the same.
Not a bad idea. Like I said, some split loom might help you sleep nights.

Will be checking this for sure. Some friends and I are having a tupperwear removal party soon to get aquainted with our new machines and check on various mechicanical and electrical connections, etc. This will be high on the list.

Thanks for the info.
