• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Little upset

The usual cause is an improperly "installed" panel. This can be the fault of the tech, or the owner. The grommets get pushed through upon reinstallation, and there is nothing to hold the panel in that spot. The wind suction and vibration then tear it off. If you just bought the Spyder, or if it was just serviced, I'd lean on the dealer to make it good. If you took the panel off to do some mods, or kicked it loose by accident, I'm afraid it's on you.

If I remember correctly the grommets for the two pop off panels have metal plates keeping them from pushing through. I'll look when I get out to the Spyder later today.

There have been a few changes to the side panels since the RT first came out. I had one of the first ones and even though I've never lost a panel I did report one of the first cases where this might be a problem. Changes to the clips and grommets have pretty much soled these problems IF they are installed properly. If they are not you do have a chance of them popping off going down the road, just like you have a chance of your front wheels falling off if you don't tighten your lugs.

Was driving down I4 Sunday and the right lower door with the chrome Can Am logo, came flying off. I took this to the dealer who contacted BRP and was told they will NOT honor this as a warranty issue. This is a 2012 RT Limited I just bought in November. Now they wasnt around $300 to replace the door#$^$&##&&*@@&W^&W^&

Jim,

You said right side panel but most of these replies are talking about the left side panel covering the oil tank. Was it the right side, as you're sitting on the bike or the right side as you are looking at the bike from the front?

Second question, had you ever removed the suspect panel yourself?

If you had never removed the panel then the only one that could have incorrectly installed it would be your dealer. BRP may refuse warranty but the dealer is responsible of they are the only one who has ever wrenched on the bike. I'm just saying........

(1): Reminder to self: Check wheel lugs before riding. :yikes:
