• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Little power in third gear and on top - any ideas?

Dear Cam Am riders
I have a question. I have little power in third gear and on top, do you know what that can be?
It is a Can Am Spyder. 83kw, 2024, 1330cc

I only put on an Akrapovic exhaust.
 
How much have you ridden your Spyder since the Akrapovic exhaust went on?? It usually takes some miles/about 15 minutes before the computer has 'learnt' the best settings for the changed parameters brought about by the exhaust, but that still shouldn't make all that much of a difference! You don't have a 'Green' Shift light showing on the dash, do you?? Do the 2024's still have that bloody stupid 'ECO Mode'? 🤔

That said, if you've got 'ECO Mode', turn it off and NEVER use it again, and then be aware that despite these motors having scads of torque right off idle, even without Eco Mode turned on and degrading the throttle response, the 1330 Triple's are basically 'lazy' motors that don't work hard unless you kick them in the throttle, especially when compared to the earlier models high rev happy V-Twins, the revs you're changing at will make a fairly noticeable difference in power delivery!! So if you want sprightly performance and you're changing up anything much before about 3,500-4,000 rpm, while the motor will still pull away and the clutch will handle it fine, you are really just pandering to the inherently lazy motor and doing yourself a disservice, meaning that you could seriously risk falling asleep while you wait (and waaaaaiiiitttt) for the power to kick in!! 😖

All if which means that if your Spyder has covered anything much more than about 1,000 miles (so that you know it's pretty well started to bed everything in! ;)) and you want a bit more of a lively response, just make sure that ECO Mode is OFF (if applicable) and then simply twist your wrist harder - get the revs up closer to 4,500-5,000 rpm before even thinking of changing up and ride it like you stole it!! The engine is more than capable of running at peak revs all day, every day, and for days on end, and once you kick it in the throttle, the engine will wake up a whole lot more!! :giggle:

And if that's not enough, you can always buy & install a Power Commander or similar to trick the computer into delivering a quicker 'feel' in throttle response, but if you REALLY want it to get up and boogie, talk to one of the ECU Tuning mobs like Monster Tuning, Wick-It Performance (both based in North America) or my preference, Rotax Racing/ECU Xtreme (who are based over here in Oz these days, but are still delivering phenomenal Performance from Can Am Comp machines all over the World!) 😁
 
Try putting some Seafoam in it before you fill it up! Run a couple tanks threw it, at highway speeds!! When have you changed the fuel filter? That may help also, and never short shift it, wind that thing up a little!
 
I agree completely with what Peter says. You've a 2024, but how many miles on it? Unless you've more than 28K or have been running slop gas I see no reason for a fuel filter change or Sea Foam.
