• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

LISTENING TO THE RADIO WITH THE IGNITION OFF

BLACK SPYDERRT

TURN THE KEY TO OFF, IMMEDIATLY HOLD THE MODE BUTTON FOR 3 SECONDS, THE THE RADIO ONLY WILL COME BACK ON.
HOWEVER, THE ONLY WAY TO SHUT THE RADIO IS TO TURN THE KEY BACK ON AND CYCLE THE COMPUTOR THEN SHUT OFF
ANYONE FIGURE OUT A BETTER WAY TO SHUT THE RADIO??

It seems that I spend a lot of time in the garage "babysitting" the RT. Being able to listen to the radio without worrying about the battery would be good.

Tried the radio and mine did come on but went back off after about 3 or 4 seconds with the Limp mode home flashing. Opps! I turned the ignition back on and started the Spyder and all is well, I will leave well enough alone.

RTS - MGA

Tried mine also twice. Got the "LIMP HOME" screen for just a second both times before the radio came on. It played OK for about 15 mins while I played with the worthless radio, I'll have to stick with IPOD for tunes and the table radio in the garage when I work out there. I will be leaving well enough alone also.:2thumbs:

Anyone have a MGA in the old days, remember the Lucus electric system THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS. The electronics on the Spyder remind me of those days. Turn on the light switch - ya may get lights or ya may get wipers or both or neither. :spyder: Both were/are fun to drive though !!!!

I ALSO GET LIMP MODE FOR A SECOND THEN SCREEN CLEARS, TALKED TO DEALER SAID NOT A PROBLEM... MY IPOD PLAYS FOR 30 MIN IN THIS MODE SO DONT WORRY, REGARDS

The brief flash of limp mode seems to be either an intentional or accidental part of the programming of this routine. It does not affect anything, and does not cause an active fault code. I would not worry about it.

This sequence is in your owners manual. Every time I want to listen to the radio, I have to open the manual and read it....I finally folded the page in half to find it easier....

I downloaded the RT owners manual and copied this for all to enjoy. It is on page 37 of your manual if you forget.

"The radio is always ON. Use the MUTE function to cancel the volume. To listen to the radio while ignition switch is set to OFF, hold the MODE button for 3 seconds immediately after the switch is set to OFF to power up the digital display."

"To preserve battery charge, the radio may shut off automatically after a certain period."

I don't know how long it stays on before turning off....it could be related to your battery strength.
