• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

List of Platinum Spyder Dealers.

I dont know what a platinum dealer is but CAN-AM has this.
http://en-us.spyder.brp.com/dealer-...g=-92.3700769&zoom=4&tabId=dealers/dealer_all
hope it helps.

Thanks, but no, not the same thing. Platinum dealers are reportedly the highest-selling Can-Am dealers who get special perks when it comes to BRP service, technician training, promotions, etc.

I don't *think* it's an urban legend-- I've heard some dealers advertise as Platinum dealers-- but I've never seen a list, nor learn what *really* goes into the designation, i.e. whether it's a big deal or not.

If you scroll thru the BRP's map, platinum dealers are marked with a blue flag and the others are marked with a red flag (The website would explain this before, but as I looked today there is no indication of this:dontknow:).

So unless one of the ambassadors having contact with BRP reps can get one, there is no way to find it in BRP's websites.:gaah:

Ahhh, thank you! The whisper in the back of my head suggested that the blue flags probably meant platinum dealers, but as you note, the BRP website doesn't label them as such (and hasn't since I started looking there about six months ago), so I wasn't sure.

So, that's my first question answered... anyone know about the second, what benefits can a platinum dealer provide a customer, either in sales or service? Or is it just a stamp of quality?

I would say a possible stamp of quality, larger parts inventory, and for sure they meet all educational requirements set by BRP for all sales service and parts.

It takes times and money for a dealer to achieve this level some smaller dealers may not get there but their service may be as good or even better. Overall seeking a platinum dealer if you have no other info is a good way to go.

I remember (funny that this is happening AFTER the fact that I am a zombie as I type this because of coming back of a Bon Jovi concert :gaah:) that when you clicked on a dealer on the BRP map, on the bottom of the dealers info it would mention Platinum Dealer. I guess the webmaster got lazy and said "ah... blue and red... they will tell!!"

Your second question, pretty much answered by Jedd, but I would add that it has more to do with $$$ in sales and inventory, simply because one dealer here in Memphis is a "Platinum" dealer :yikes:... it has inventory and their service department is clean and advanced in tools, but their customer service sucks (in my opinion). My dealer, on the other hand, has a adequate service department, good techs and :spyder2: inventory, but not much in accessories (pretty much order from the catalog)

To add into my own comment: I just spoke to the owner of my dealer, David (wondering on the status of my :spyder2:, which he said that got the last of the parts yesterday so I should be rYding next week ) and talked about business. The only reason he's not a Platinum dealer is because he does not have a adequate BRP accessory stock in his dealer (clothing, body kits, luggage, chrome, helmets) and the reason why he doesn't have it is because of the $$$ of keeping that kind of stock which he considers slow moving. Otherwise, his sales are at par with the other :spyder2: dealer and taking more and more of the service issues from them.

That is why Cowtown should be double Platinum!

David, the owner of the dealer where I take my :spyder2:, told me months ago that he had sent a "cease and desist" letter to BRP in which you can obtain a certain dealership status ONLY based on the amount of money spent on accessories, regardless of sales and service. He showed me a list of chrome accessories a dealer has to have in stock as a minimum in order to receive Platinum status. He mentioned that other dealers in Tennessee followed suit (David was even talking lawsuit at the time but his lawyer adviced against it for the moment) because there are laws in Tennessee against this kind of "treatment". Last I heard BRP was revising this (after the Dealers convention held the end of last year), so they must have removed the flags.

Throwing a swing out at the man from the little guy. I salute this individual.

:agree: Just looked now and the blue flag for my dealer is gone and he is a platinum dealer http://en-us.spyder.brp.com/dealer-locator.aspx#

A zombie thread of mine resurrected, woo-hoo!

To the subject at hand, if it's true what distinguishes a platinum dealer from a regular dealer is just the amount of farkles they stock and sell, then I'm glad the flags are gone, because what a ludicrously unhelpful benchmark for consumers.

In an ideal world, I'd suggest that BRP label its platinum dealers as those meeting some objective customer satisfaction criteria-- the highest survey results, primarily. Platinum should mean the best of the best, and be something to be aspired to (and a category that's useful to the consumers).

Instead... farkles, really??

:agree: Yamaha gives out their "Pro" recognition to dealers who preform outstanding service and customer support, and you have to be in business for a certain time... REGARDLESS of the amount of accessories you have in stock (only parts so you can have your customers in-and-out ASAP). BRP needs to take that into consideration...:lecturef_smilie:
