• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Limp mode

Went out and started the Spyder this morning and the limp mode came on immediately along with the red flashing engine symbol on the right side of the display and the red explanation mark on the left side of the display. I shut it off immediately and tried turning the key off and on three times and it did not work. Called my dealer (Walt's Motorsports and Marine) and they sent a trailer out in 20 minutes to take it to the shop. Hoping to find out tomorrow what happened.
I rode it yesterday and it was fine so what ever happened was while it was sitting in the garage. Will let you know what is wrong when they call tomorrow. :dontknow:

Just got a call from the tech at Walt's Motorsports. Apparently a sensor malfunctioned when I turned the key on and through a code saying I was going 158 mph and it shut the Spyder down. A call to BRP confirmed that this has happened in the past and so they are clearing the codes and I am suppose to pick it up in the AM. Hope it does not happen again.

By the way I talked to one of the techs today and it can throw that code along with other codes when the battery is low. The code will stay in memory but it is not an active code, once the battery is fully charged it should be fine.

I keep a battery tender on it all the time when I am not riding the bike. I had rode the bike for a total of about 3 hours the two days before and everything was OK. The battery always shows full charge when I put my multimeter on it. I don't know what else I can do. :dontknow:

Funny you mentioned that. After I went to pick my RT from the dealer after the first service maintenace, installation of fog lights and trailer hitch, mine went into limp mode and flashing red engine. My tech got BUDS (or like he calls it hooked up the "heart monitor") connected and after a couple of times clearing codes it went away.

Talked to the tech today when I picked up the :spyder2:. He said when they hooked it up to BUDS the codes showed the key was on, transmission in nutreal, parking break on and the :spyder2: was doing 158 mph. A call to BRP and they agreed it was a strange situation and code but that it would probably not happen again. It apparently had something to do with one of ten or so sensors that come on in sequence when the key is turned on and one of them either kicked in to soon or to late.
I am not a mechanic so it doesn't mean much to me, but the bike is running great now. Hope it does not happen again. :dontknow:
