Lifting the RT

I read somewhere stating that the RT should not be lifted in the front. Is this a special jack? Anybody know type/brand/name and possibly a website?

Any ATV/MC jack should be able to safely lift the spyder as long as the weight is enough. Most of them have a weight limit of 1500, so it should be fine.

I have never seen a Spyder jacked-up that way before . I use a ATV / Motorcycle jack placed between the rear and front wheels, closes to the front so the jack is on the main frame .

I have lifted my RS from both the side (rear wheel replacement) and the front (oil change, driveway is on a slope), and have had no problem.

I lift mine just as the picture shows but with a regular automotive floor jack. The jack is just a tad too high to slip under the RT so I drive it up on a pair of ramps first. I know it sounds like a lot of trouble but I already had the floor jack and I didn't want to buy another jack. It works fine.

I use an ATV jack under the "belly"...

I use the HD floor jack. I slide it under at the rear end of frame, not on muffler. It lifts and balances good. When it's all the way up I slide car ramps under the front wheels and wood under the rear just for safety. That way if I want I can lower the my Spyder and remove the floor jack. I thought I had some pictures. I have to lift a RT-S tomorrow. I'll take some pictures and post them when I get home.

I drove mine up on ramps to install my skid plate and I have also used my harley jack to lift the front end.:shocked:

Use tire ramps

I use two tire ramps. Place them behind the front tires and back on to them so they don't impede you working under the bike. I keep in gear and put the parking brake.

Thanks, I'm looking to replace the shocks and wasn't sure how to get the Spyder up in the air.
I use two tire ramps to change the oil, but I need something else to change the shocks.
