• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lifting the rear end of 2012 RTS...

For my next oil change I'd like to do this:

Drive front end up on two auto ramps (lifts about 7-8")

Carefully jack up rear end with auto jack to level with ramps...
lift point to be at the joint where rear shock joins brackets.
I can cushion this lift point with a piece of hard rubber if advisable.
(I've heard NOT to do this... but my dealer does it routinely...
and I've seen pictures on SpyderLovers lifting by the bottom of the rear shock)

This sure would make oil changes easier...

Any thoughts? Am I looking for trouble?:helpsmilie:

There's stuff up under there that won't like it if you mash them by trying to use them as a jacking point... :shocked:
I use an ATV lift under the Bike's belly...
You could pick it up and slide jackstands or something under the wheels to hold it up securely once it's in the air. :thumbup:
 
Jacking RT...

Once the fronts are up on the ramps, jack under the center frame member towards the rear. You will notice a hole approximately 1/2" in diameter just ahead of where the frame member starts to curve, and this is about as far back as you can safely jack. I made a circular plywood disk that fits the depression in my floor jack, and installed a 3/8" pin sticking up from the center which positions the jack under that hole. Even jacking at this point, the front end tends to become light, so be careful. Once up in the air, you can block under the rear wheel, or use a safety stand under the shock mounts.
