I'm in awe again over some of the cheapie and thoughtless features I've come across in my 2012 RT. Today I removed the 2 screws to remove the lens of my license plate light. To my surprise it isn't only a lens but a complete module encapsulated in a rubber boot. That really isn't a bad thing though, but the surprise was the anchoring method used to secure the unit in place. Didn't BRP think anyone was going to hav to change a bulb without expecting to remove the the whole rear end of the bike? Unsuspecting me removed the 2 screws and the unit fell free, the real surprise was tring to reinstall it.The anchor system some brilliant engineer came up with was a free floating un anchored plastic flange on the inside of the fender. Trying to line up the holes in this free floating device is next to impossible. This is definitely not something that can be done roadside. My caution is to any individual attempting to change the bulb, it's NOT a simple task, but it should be. BRP, give some thought to routine replacement items, we shouldn't have to go to a service facility for a bulb change. A bonded backplate to the fender, or recessesed tinnermans would be a solution.
Perhaps there's a easy way to do this, I'll just have some of the experienced ones show me on tech day at Lamont's BBQ:bbq:
