• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Yesterday on the" Road Warrior Ride" I got the letter E on my display on the console of my 2014RTS-SE6. It only showed up for a few seconds, then it disappeared. I was at a pull off area, when this happen. I turned the key to the "Off" position, then turned "On" and did my normal Start- Up. I did not get the letter E again. Everyone out there watch out for this. Deanna

Relax. .!!

sometime a soft shift will seem like your between gears to the sensor (gear position sensor). Make sure you make solid shifts light taps can cause this to occur. As long as it only flashed and all is fine your good to go....

It does seem to happen more on the 2014's. A soft shift, or trying to hurry "nanny" on the start up will do it quite often.

My brand new 2015 RT is doing this now. I got the letter E(steady) and R/N flashing. The dealer said there is a campaign(recall) for the gear shift sensor. Will be calling them Tuesday when they open cause I get that and heavy vibrations on the highway.

VIBRATIONS

I don't think they are related.......My best guess is IMBALANCE in front wheels.......a close second would be bad Kenda tires......jmho.....Mike

Check the Messages in Multifunction Gauge chart in your manual. Your situation is the very first one listed, gearbox position sensor malfunction. What to do? "Stop vehicle and allow to reach neutral. Have vehicle repaired by..."

Thanks guys. I was actually just reading manual. Lol. I knew it was probably that sensor. They told me about the issues when I bought it and said not to worry they would take care of it when they get the new sensors. I'm taking it to the dealer Tues/Wed. Hope I can get the two issues sorted out. Thanks again.

Dee,
 Sorry; but :agree:.
On the off-chance that it wasn't a light, or a hurried shift; your dealer should probably take a look at it.
If it gets to where your bike can't figure out what gear you're in; it's not gonna be going anywhere. :yikes:

Bob, I have not had letter "E" displayed on the console, since I had the DESS module replaced by the dealer, last month.

If the machine is not moving( parked) I try to shift slower( sometimes it is difficult to do, because I am in a hurry, just like life in a hurry) so I don't get the letter "E" on the display on the console.

Is the letter "E" issue different from DESS module?????????

On my first rides(1000 miles in last 3 days) I have seen the "E" when going from 1st to Reverse on my
2014 RTS SM6. Just very briefly an E before it flips over to the R...never from R to 1st again.

Guess I will need to run it in to the dealer soon. Crud...just when I started to get to enjoy it.

What you're seeing has been pretty-much decided to be normal. ;)
The jump from first to reverse is just long enough, that it "confuses" the system for an instant. :D

My fault on resurrecting the thread. I was having a similar issue and was a lil upset. Didn't mean to high jack or anything. My bad.
