• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I received all my parts from BRP today. It took 8 days for the parts to come in, but that included the Christmas weekend in there. So all in all that was not to bad, so hats off to BRP for that. I also have to add not one screw up in this whole order, so that was impressive as well.

The total for everything was $568.00 and add that to the bill of $400.00 to the powder coater that I will have to pay next week and the $100 + for plug wires and oil change stuff. This puts me way over the original budget I had for these winter projects. :( I did break down and purchase a new rear tire, 90 degree valve stem, a lower handle bar cover (that I broke) and rear axel covers that never came on my Spyder when I bought it. But honestly, if I had to pay for labor on top of this, I would be eating tuna fish and peanut butter and jelly for the rest of the winter.:yikes:

I'm waiting for the powder coating to be done hopefully next week, but in the meantime I can install the clutch lever and brake pads.

Looks like a fun project brewing. Speaking of brewing--do you have the required amount of backup/assembly beverages? :roflblack:

How come you need a new clutch lever???

And, is the 90 degree angle valve stem a BRP item??

My clutch fluid (brake fluid) had a very small leak at the plunger that would sometimes splatter on my hot looking yellow Spyder. Not covered under warranty.:(

I bought that 90 degree valve stem from my dealer for $4.95 I'm not sure if it is a BRP brand or some other.

That 90 doesn't just screw on the original valve stem correct? It actually takes the place of the original valve stem, doesn't it? I mention that only so someone doesn't make the mistake, like I did, and by a 90 and screw it on the factory valve stem.

Just curious. Why do you think that the screw on valve stem is a mistake ?

Did you have a problem with it ?

This one takes the place of the factory valve stem. I had to take the factory one off before i sent the rim to the powder coater.

The 90 degree valve stem doesn't look like it simply screws on the OEM valve. It looks like it's seated in the tire and takes the place of the original.

Is there such a thing as a "screw on" valve stem???

I purchased a package with 2. When I check the rear tire pressure or add air to it, I temporarily screw a 90 on. It makes it easier to check and add air.

I agree; it does look like his 90 is seated in the rim.

Lamont mentioned that those type of 90's that screw on to the stock stems should not be left on. They will vibrate and weaken the rubber stem and you'll end up with a leak.

Thanks! I kind of figured that. But even putting it on each time I check tire pressure will make the who procedure go much better. I am tired of the nightmare that is the OEM valve stem!! I had no idea that these little gems existed!!

Chtistmas Goodies

Looks like you've got alot of work ahead of you  Curious, how many miles did you get on yur rear tire & are you replacing it with stock? We're at 21,400 & get'n a new one as soon as the shop calls & says they've got everything in :p

13,902 miles to be excact, but I did a few burnouts after we met in Lake placid. :roflblack: I am replacing the tire with stock this time per Hollys wishes. If you got 21,400 on your rear tire consider yourself lucky !!! We had nearly the same amount of miles on our Spyders in Lake Placid and your Spyder is not even a year old yet !!! You also should consider replacing your wheel bearings while you have the rear tire off.

Why isn't a Clutch cylinder leak not covered under warranty? Surely it isn't a wear item...

It certainly is a wear item in there eyes. It is a $100.00 part for a 5 cent o-ring that is leaking.

So are you gonna take some new pictures with the model when "Fatal Attraction" is back up on all threes?

I'm looking for a new model though. You can't have the same ol same ol model all the time. :D Clutch lever and brake pads are done !!! Now, it's a waiting game for the paint.:popcorn:
