• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Lefty needs a throttle on Left side

does anyone know how i can get a lefty throttle for my spyder i just bought a 2012 rs and its sitting in my garage with 2.2 kms on it and i cant ride it because i dont have a right arm.

Boots has a similar situation. She had a company that builds accessible vehicles fabricate a foot throttle. I don't like to call things impossible, but it would be pretty difficult with the fly-by-wire throttle onthe RT or the 2013s, but it is certainly achievable with an RS.

Well Scott, I'll put forward my lack of knowledge of things mechanical.

It would seem that the location or position of the resistor or voltage output adjustment mechanism that "powers" a drive by wire throttle body would be
immaterial as to which side of the handlebars it was located on. This would seem to be in direct opposition to a cable controlled throttle body, where longer cables would be required to move the throttle to the left side. Or am I all befuddled

thanks for your ideas and yes i could just move it over to left side but there isnt enough room for the other controlls (including shifter). then i would be having the same problems relocating them so i could use them

The real problem lies in the fact that communications are done by CANbus, so they are digital instead of analog. You would need a compatible control that would work on the left, no interfering CANbus controls on that side, or if you went to the left foot, a compatibly programmed controller and compatible wiring. Longer cables and a mechanical throttle is easier.
 
There is one out there

One of the girls on Girls On Spyders was born with no right arm. She mentioned on one of the comments that she has a left foot throttle so that she can ride. This might work for you too.
