UPDATE..... LED SIGNAL LIGHTS - '14 ST
UPDATE...
I've figured out the 2014 Can Am St issue with the LED signal light kit.
Apparently, the 14 model can recalibrate it's own LEDs and does this by the owner turning the bike on, holding the hazard light switch for approx 30 secs until the dash lights flash once quickly.
Afterwards turn the hazards off and put the right signal on and turn the ignition off, then repeat the same process (hazards / Off / left signal).
You can set each light individually too... Obviously I've stumbled across all of this, but the signal leds are working now... WITHOUT the resistor attached!
That's right, there is no resister in line but they now flash correctly.
Apparently, the new Harleys have the same feature with their canbus system.
Ordered a set of the rear LED rear signal light kit from Custom Dynamics.
The strange thing is that when I hooked them up (They come with a resister and are plug and play) they flash correctly with the engine off, but as soon as I start the engine, they flash fast as if there's no load resister attached!
Custom Dynamics have sent me another resister of a different value (The lead tech says its a 10-25)... This resister flashes fast whether the engine is running or not.
They're sending me another resister (10-20) but I don't hold out much hope as they are now just guessing if it'll work.
I'm frustrated as they say this kit will work with the 2014 ST that I have, but it obviously doesn't.
Anyone know what size resister should be used or if there's another issue I'm / we're missing.
(I know this has to do with the CAN BUS and that when the engine is running there's more power going through the LED's)
