• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

LCD "Heads-up Display" does not like the sun!

I realize that no LCD likes direct sunlight. But this seems to be a bit dangerous. :dontknow:

I drove our Spyder home from our office last night, only to have a black screen by the time I got home. I have read a few poss here and there saying theirs goes black, but comes back on later. So I was not worried.

Well the wife wanted to run to the video store... So of course we had to take the RT :2thumbs:... Now by then the LCD has come back on... But it is still very dark, and now has a tachometer sweeping needle on the screen?

Kind of cool actually...

I suspect the LCD will go back to normal, and it simply does not like the direct sunlight it got on the way home. We are not to worried about it, but thought it was worth mentioning anyway...

The tach issue indicates that this is more serious than merely the sun burning the display. That could cause a blackout, or loss of contrast, but not a change in what is displayed. There is a programming issue here. Somewhere, a microprocessor has lost its mind! :D I'm afraid you will have to see your dealer again. I suspect a new cluster in your future.

That is just wierd, scary and cool at the same time, but hey at least it's still in english.

It brings up a question I have had.... if all of these "functions" can be displayed on the LCD screen then why the &%$# didn't BRP integrate a GPS into it? I mean really.... seems kinda odd having another LCD (GPS) mounted in front of the other.

just my .02

Well some good news... The screen is no longer black... AND the RPM meter is still there!!! Whooot! It even changes colors from the daylight colors to the night time colors... I really like it! :ohyea:
