• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Today is my last day of work, after today my job title will be RETIRED. I could have worked a couple more months to finish up this project but they had added another 4 story apartment building last July and as hard as I tried I could not get it done by September as I had planed. It wont finish until April and I have to many projects around the house to finish before our BIG ride we have been planing and I want to have them done before we leave. There is a highway sign in Newport Oregon on the corner of Hwy. 20 and 101 that says BOSTON 3,365 miles . we are planing on taking it all the way to the end where it meets Hwy. 2 at Fenway Park. Then thru New York state to Niagara Falls then west thru Canada to Michigan to Door County in Wisconsin to visit my mother in-law who is 102, then south to Chicago where we start Route 66 all the way to Santa Monica then back north up 1 and 101 to home, should be close to 10,000 miles and 2 1/2 - 3 months. I have driven most of this while working as a traveling construction superintendent for the last 25 years and have been to every state except Rode Island and Connecticut and worked in 38 of them, but this time my wife will get to be with me to share it with and we can stop when ever we want and smell the roses. I will post when and where we are planing to be and hope to meet up with some of the great folks on this site and maybe ride a little with them.

Exciting.....

Congrats on the retirement and you have a great adventure planned to start it all off...:2thumbs: enjoy and be safe and send the odd picture along the way....

Congratulations on winning the Rat Race!! :yes::yes: :firstplace:
Get yourself an RV, use your Spyder as your Toad, and you'll fit right into the crowd! :D

Congrats on the retirement, I’ve been off for a year but may go back. You need 3 things I think to have a good retirement, good friends to hang out with, a purpose to get up every day eg a fantastic ride, volunteer somewhere, fix up the house etc and to move eg some form of exercise.

Please chronicle your trip as a bunch of us will be living vicariously through you!

Big Trip

Just curious on your trip, as to what month are you starting. Enjoy your Time and Always RYDE SAFE.

Congratulations, I escaped on 11/30/2018! Enjoy your time; that sounds like a grand trip you and the spouse have planned and the correct approach to doing it. Keep us up dated with word and pictures as you can, ride safe and enjoy!!!:yes::yes::clap::clap::clap:

Have a RV Bob, been RVing for over 30 years, the one we have now is a 42 foot and 4 slides two bedrooms, this trip is on Spyders only, just because we can say we did it. After that we snow bird to the south than head back north for the summers.

:congrats: on making the big R.

Enjoy all the things you have been wanting to do.

You are going to like Door County. A great part of WI.

I was just reading about the new Dodges making 1,000 foot-pounds of torque...

Mine is an 06 , paid for with only 150K on it ,I bought it new, one of the best years they made. running empty I get 23 , pulling the trailer I get 17 if I hold it at 60, anything faster than that your out of control and just don't know it. The Bighorn is grate for long term stays but it ain't no weekend camper. When we go for our big ride I pull a little Aspen tent trailer and my wife pulls a cargo trailer.

To give you some things and options to think about....I retired January 05. Kept a 40' twin diesel boat in Seattle and snow birded to Arizona. Spent summers on the boat cruising the Inside Passage. Sold the boat 3 years ago and bought a bigger home here for full time desert living. No regrets. We still get to the NW on the bikes for a month or so each summer. It's a good excape from the heat and allows opportunity to visit with old friends and family. We, too, have an RV but it doesn't see much use. We're just too busy enjoying life and it seems to not fit our agenda for now. But, we have thought about moving it to the NW for a summer outpost. You may find that priorities change and then change again. We sure did.

Your trip sounds great. Hope your adventures are many and amazing...... Congrats on entering the unemployed happy generation..... Jim
