My Sunday ryde was to Cassoday, Ks, for the final run of the year. This occurs every 1st Sunday of the month from March through Oct. Cassoday is about 100 miles from here and I had planned to leave early to get there in time to have a late breakfast. There's a cafe that only opens for this monthly event and some food trucks. Also lots of vendors show up. I just wanted a place to ride to and to have something to eat.

But the night before I got to sleep late and was tired in the morning. So I took my time and finally left about 11am. I rode to Council Grove and then took KS-177 through the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve. I kept seeing bikers on the way back, but thought they must have been the early risers. I got to Cassoday and was able to park right in front of the cafe - usually an impossibility. Went in and asked if they were still serving. Nope, just sodas. I went down to the corner where some vendors were folding up their canopy. I went into an antique store and asked if they knew of anyone still selling food. Nope. All the food vendors ran out of food already and left. So, back on the Spyder and a convenience store just north of town where I got a Coke and small bag of chips. Refueled in Council Grove and got home on Hwy 57, the closes thing we have around here to a twisty road.
But, except for missing lunch, it was a wonderful ride. It was in the 70s and a beautiful sunny fall day on the prairie.
