• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Laser ground effects?

Hi folks!
Honest opinions please on this. Cool, or stupid looking? It's hooked up to the license plate lights so it is on constantly.
Thanks!

I like it, and I don't like much. Up here in NYS, we have to be careful of the lights shining on the ground when moving. I asked my son-in-law about that b/c he's a state trooper, and he said it depends on the trooper; but, that's here in NYS, and of course there are others from NYS that say the opposite. In any case, I like the effect of yours.

Cool Looking....

They are getting wild with all the led lighting and the legal issue is getting tough. Mostly colors like emergency vehicles (reds and blues) but I think yours is fine as long as it is not flashing......:dontknow:

Interesting. I would be surprised it you didn't have every cat within visual range chasing you constantly! ;)

Cute- Can you imagine a 170 # Great Dane chasing a laser. Best done on a rug your planning to replace. Don't ask me how I knownojoke.

Personally I would rather have a High mount brake light at the following driver's EYE LEVEL.

Kaos

Would be cool if it could project a Spyder or a spider on the road.

there was a Spyder owner from Oklahoma at our rally in August that had a spider image shining on the ground from his Spyder. Looked pretty cool.

Remember, you did ask for honest opinions... sorry, not a fan. I would go with a high mounted taillight if your looking for more light for the back of your Spyder.

Whaaaatt?!?! How dare you give me your honest opinion when I asked for it when that opinion is not what I was hoping for?!? :roflblack: Just kidding! I really do appreciate the honesty. I put it on not so much to increase the visibility, but thought it would a little individuality to my Spyder and more to add to the "coolness" factor of the Spyder....sometimes it takes a second (or third) set of eyes to see it might not be as good as I might think. My wife thinks it's kinda silly looking...I will be filing for divorce soon.

My wife thinks it's kinda silly looking...

If you like it, that's all that matters! That's what makes it custom!
If I never did or got anything my wife thought was silly, I wouldn't have ANYTHING of my own! (she doesn't read SL, so don't tell her I said that!) :yikes:

, but I don't see what harm it could do either.

I'd have to drive behind you at night a few blocks........to see how distracting it might be.

And then, if this is a REAL laser you might want to be concerned about the power output and whether or not it is legal to use in this kind of application.
A high powered laser that accidentally hits something reflective can injure people nearby (eyes mostly).

From the picture, it looks pretty strong.
