• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Laser alignment?

Red Ryder VT

New member
I was at the dealer on Sat and he recommend that I get a laser alignment done to my 2012 RT-S.

He has never seen my Spyder, I purchased it private party sale, he just based his recommendation on the age and mileage 7,500.

Has anyone had this done and was it worth the $150?

It makes sense based on having an car with independent front suspension needing a periodic front end alignment, that the Spyder would need such a procedure.

I have no performance reason for the alignment, my tires are not wearing in any unusual pattern and there are no apparent vibration at higher speeds.

So:

Is it worth getting this done?

or

is this a scam?

I've never been to this dealer before it's two hours from home and has three times as many Spyders on the showroom floor as the more local dealer.

Thanks

VERY few spyders are aligned correctly from the factory. If its never been done on your bike, its very likely it needs one. Correct alignment significantly affects handling as well as tire wear.

It's my understanding that a couple of our vendors do not charge for checking the alignment. They only charge if it requires alignment.

Have your spyder laser alignment done. It is worth it.

Which dealership did you go to in Vermont?

Yes to the laser alignment. We had ours done by the best--Ann & Joe from Squared Away.

Our 2011 was the most mis-aligned :spyder2: they had worked on. The dealer did the old fashioned alignment the previous season. After the laser alignment, the :ani29: seemed like a brand new bike.

Yes to alignment

Yes to the laser alignment. Had mine done by the best--Ann & Joe from Squared Away --- a few days ago at Spyderfest. 2014 RT no longer pulls to the Right -- tracks like it should.

My dealer charges 220 and he is backed up forever. I asked at spyderfest and there was 8 in line so I did not do it there. I did get the Elka shocks though. No waiting list there and made the right decision to get that done first. I was bottoming out alot in my ST. I went on my Rydes after that and OH MY, what a difference.

Make an appointment and come on down to Houston.
